Our Test Systems Engineering team in Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Senior Design Drafter to join them. You will report to the Drafting Section Head and will have a hybrid work schedule in Elma, NY.

As Senior Design Drafter, you will be an important part of the design and development team, supporting projects by creating clear and accurate design drawings under the guidance of Engineers, Project Leads & Section Heads.

This position participates in the design of complex electrohydraulic, electromechanical, components and subsystems within complex test systems.

As Senior Design Drafter, you will:

  • Translate conceptual direction into complete design packages, including layouts, schematics, detail and assembly drawings, and parts lists.

  • Work independently or with engineers to develop dimensional and functional specifications.

  • Lead and guide drafting personnel on assignments, ensuring accuracy and quality.

  • Present and defend design decisions, explaining assumptions, constraints, and analyses.

  • Collaborate with Development, Product, and Manufacturing Engineers, as well as external vendors, throughout the design process.

  • Participating in status review meetings and providing estimates on level of effort.

  • Select components, materials, and processes; design tools and fixtures as needed.

  • Review and check the work of junior drafters.

  • Scans the environment for potential opportunities to improve/streamline processes or new and emerging technologies that will help with drafting efficiencies.

  • Providing accurate estimates on completion dates of assigned tasks.

To be considered for this role, typically you'll bring:

  • Associate degree in a technical field (Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology preferred).

  • 5+ years of drafting/design experience.

  • Strong CAD skills (Siemens NX/Unigraphics experience is a plus).

  • In-depth knowledge of machine shop practices, fabrication methods, descriptive geometry, dimensioning techniques, and geometric tolerancing (GD&T preferred).

  • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and apply sound design principles.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $75,000.00-$105,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
