What to Expect

Regulatory compliance is a critical business function and a rapidly expanding sector. Regulatory complexity is increasing and continuously evolving with many local, national, and international policies, regulations, codes, and standards.

Tesla is seeking a dynamic and creative North America (NAM) Risk Operations Manager to join the regulatory compliance engineering team to ensure Energy Generation (Solar and Energy Storage Systems), Electric Vehicle Charging Systems (AC, DC, and Wireless) products, and business processes meet all applicable regulatory requirements.

You will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, assessing regulatory risks, and actively driving solutions to reduce, mitigate, or eliminate them. Related responsibilities also include developing roadmaps that identify current and future legislative changes and potential risks through market, legislative and regulatory surveillance activities. You will work with internal teams (Ex. Compliance, Finance, Public Policy etc.), and external networks (Ex. Trade associations, regulatory symposiums, government, public utilities etc.) communicating results to the organization and executive teams. This role requires you to be the subject matter expert in the areas where Tesla operates. You will report to the Global Lead, Risk Management.


What You'll Do
  • Gather data, analyze, and assess current and future risks (e.g., reputational / operational / financial / taxation / regulatory) that are and/or will be affecting the Supercharging and Energy organizations
  • Develop policies and strategies to monitor and control risks
  • Implement business processes and procedures to minimize/reduce, mitigate or eliminate risks
  • Lead and drive such measures through internal stakeholders and external organizations
  • Effectively respond and resolve requests from different authorities
  • Work with the wider engineering teams on technical product requirements
  • Perform business and legal due diligence to ensure compliance with existing requirements
  • Prepare reports and present recommendations to internal stakeholders

What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years of risk management or relevant work experience in the energy and/or electric vehicle charging (e-mobility) market
  • Extensive understanding of U.S. and Canadian policies, legislations, and regulations specific to the energy and/or charging (e-mobility) segments
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-faceted tasks in a fast-paced and broad/global environment
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to influence/negotiate for the most favorable business outcome(s)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate relevant information to all levels of the organization as well as external stakeholders
  • Ability to work with MS Office, Power Bi, and excellent data reporting skills

    Expected Compensation
    $68,000 - $186,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
