What to Expect

In this position, you will play a critical role in supporting the production and Engineering teams to ensure the seamless operation of wire harnesses in automotive systems. You'll troubleshoot, repair, and rework harnesses that have been damaged during General Assembly, providing key feedback on performance during trials and testing. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine designs and improve processes, ensuring that each stage of production, from pre-production to Start of Production (SOP), runs smoothly.

Expect to be hands-on, utilizing your skills with automotive electrical systems, wire harnesses, and components. You'll perform mechanical tasks such as soldering, use multi-meters for diagnostics, and work with engineering drawings to understand and implement electrical schematics. In addition, you will track issues, maintain data, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Flexibility is essential, as the role may also require varying schedules as well as possible weekends to meet production demands.


What You'll Do
  • Troubleshoot issues with wire harnesses
  • Make repairs to harnesses that have been damaged during General Assembly
  • Rework harnesses for trials; support and document trials
  • Work with production, quality, and Engineering to continuously improve designs and processes
  • Support early stage, pre-production, and Start of Production (SOP) installation, connection, testing of Low Voltage harnesses, components
  • Provide clear, accurate timely information feedback to engineers on any problems found during testing and trial builds
  • Maintain component-level data, track open issues
  • A wide variety of other technician tasks, supporting the engineering and production teams as needed

What You'll Bring
  • Previous experience with automotive electrical systems, wire harnesses, components, and/or devices
  • Previous experience servicing, troubleshooting/diagnosing, and repairing wiring, connectors, and associated components
  • Ability to use multi-meters, soldering, crimping, mechanical tasks; preference given for higher skill
  • Previous experience reading and understanding electrical schematics and engineering drawings required; preference given for understanding and creating work instructions for installation and repair
  • Previous experience sourcing and buying various tools, hardware components and test equipment is a plus
  • Must be willing to work weekends as needed to support production
