Salary/Compensation Statement:

  • Hourly wage reflects an approximate annual salary of $50,570 - $74,162
  • New employees may not be placed on the salary schedule higher than any current employee in this classification with the same or greater number of years' relevant experience and education.

  • Lane Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions regarding your loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or to the US Department of Education.

Required QUALIFICATIONS




Required Education:
Two (2) years of post-secondary education with course work in finance, public administration, accounting, human resources, counseling or a related field.
Required Experience:
Three (3) years of financial aid experience. One (1) year of related experience (such as bank loan officer, tax consultant, student records, counseling or admissions work) may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience.
Licensure or Certification Requirements

  • Prior to employment, must be in good standing with any outstanding Title IV student loans.

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS










Preferred Education
Bachelor's degree with coursework in finance, accounting, public administration, student services administration, human resources, counseling, or a related field.

  • Recent experience in federal need analysis and verification.
  • Experience interpreting and applying appropriate federal guidance and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with federal tax documents, including tax returns and/or tax return transcripts.

Position Purpose:
Responsible for the administration of federal, state, and institutional student aid programs and for providing accurate information to parents, students, staff, and the community.
Essential Functions:

  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and institutional rules, regulations, and policies, making independent judgments that carry fiscal consequences for students and for the institution.
  • Review student aid applications for completeness; collect required documentation to meet federal, state, and institutional requirements.
  • Utilize technology to notify students of financial aid needs, process Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4), dual enrollment, eligibility, documents exchanged and requirements; submit corrections to federal processor in accordance with regulations.
  • Using automated systems, monitor student academic progress, notify students of changes in eligibility, and take action on student appeals.
  • Maintain electronic data and student records relating to financial aid eligibility to ensure accuracy and that interrelated electronic processes execute correctly.
  • Perform federally mandated verification and need analysis; process and correct student data by through review and analysis of federal tax transcripts and other verification documents.
  • Determine students' initial or recalculated eligibility for a variety of federal, state, and institutional programs; make awards from each program based on student eligibility, availability of funds, and institutional awarding policies.
  • Schedule day-to-day flow of data to and from the federal student aid processor and the college's automated financial aid system, including sequencing and timing of batch processes.
  • Calculate refunds and repayments according to federal regulations.
  • Coordinate with other institutions in determining financial aid eligibility for participating in dual enrollment programs.
  • Explain complex financial aid information to students and families by phone, email, and in person in a clear and positive manner.
  • Conduct verbal and computer-assisted workshops and presentations on campus and in the community for students, prospective students, and college staff.
  • Providing customer service, advice and guidance to students, prospective students, parents, staff and the community regarding financial aid programs.
  • Actively participate in team and committee meetings.
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Statement:
Reports to and works under the general supervision of the Financial Aid Director. Work is performed independently in accordance with federal, state and institutional policies, rules, regulations, procedures and interpretations.

This position has responsibility for training, task assignment, priority-setting, and monitoring of student assistants.
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
Work safely; may sit or stand for extended hours; work on a computer for extended hours; ability to drive safely; This position may work with individuals who may be upset. Work involves concentrated mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time. Work may require transporting materials up to 25 pounds.

  • Interpreting and applying federal and state regulations related to establishing student aid eligibility, awarding, disbursement, and monitoring of federal and state student aid programs.
  • Interpreting and applying federal IRS rules relating to individual taxpayer returns.
  • Interpreting and applying federal, state, and institutional rules and regulations to a variety of individual student situations and circumstances.

  • Applying institutional rules, processes, and procedures related to student enrollment, registration, attendance, advising, payment, and other services.
