Position Summary

As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the Materials Analysis section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

Someone in this role would typically have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and two (2) years of experience. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.
**International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available**


Duties And Responsibilities

This new position is on the JETS Gateway Mission Design Team providing mission analysis and design across the Artemis Program.

The selected applicant will:

* Support state-of-the-art research in cislunar astrodynamics and spacecraft mission design for multi-vehicle architecture.
* Generate strategies for operating in cislunar space for a range of vehicle capabilities.
* Develop, integrate, and test new algorithms for evaluation of vehicle and mission performance.
* Provide software development and scripting in orbit analysis software tools, such as FreeFlyer, Monte, or GMAT.
* Develop requirements verification documentation for mission design products.
* Provide recommendations for improvements in software/data products.
* Perform other duties as required.


Qualifications

REQUIRED

* Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering and two (2) or more years of related work experience.
* Experience with cislunar astrodynamics and dynamical systems theory.
* Experience with development of spacecraft mission design algorithms and analyzing spacecraft performance.
* Experience developing, verifying, and validating simulation models.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Experience working in a team environment.
* Strong interpersonal skills to enable successful performance in a collaborative environment.
* Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision.
* Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at meetings.
* Experience with Microsoft Office products.

PREFERRED

* PhD in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on trajectory design, optimization, and orbital mechanics.
* Experience with the Gateway and/or Artemis Program.
* Experience with spacecraft Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking.
* Experience in spacecraft orbit determination and non-linear filtering techniques.
* Experience with 3-DOF spacecraft simulations.
* Proficiency in software development using programming languages such as Python, C++, MATLAB or Julia.
* Experience with product delivery and management.
* Experience with source code management tools such as Git/GitLab and continuous integration systems such as Gitlab.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
