Pavion and our family of companies are seeking a talented and motivated Embedded Security Systems Programmer to join our security business unit. This embedded role operates under the customer's discretion-working on-site when needed and remotely as approved-while supporting enterprise-level access control, video surveillance, and integrated security systems across multi-site and hyperscale platforms. The Embedded Programmer will serve as a trusted technical liaison, delivering hands-on support, advanced troubleshooting, configuration, and optimization of security platforms to ensure reliable, high-performing systems. The candidate will proactively identify opportunities for system improvements, assist with evaluating emerging technologies, and provide strategic input to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technical contact for the customer, managing day-to-day application engineering tasks.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain enterprise-level access control (Lenel), video management systems (Milestone), and related integrated security solutions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field technicians, and customer IT/security teams to ensure smooth deployment and ongoing support.
  • Perform system health checks, routine preventative maintenance, and firmware/software updates.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, escalating to vendor support when necessary.
  • Provide training and documentation for customer stakeholders on system operation and best practices.
  • Support evaluation and integration of new security technologies, ensuring compatibility and compliance with existing infrastructure.
  • Track and report on system performance, issues, and completed tasks to both the customer and internal leadership.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in programming, systems integration, or related roles within the physical security industry; field experience is not necessary but considered ideal.
  • Proficiency in access control and video management platforms (e.g., LenelS2, Milestone).
  • Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VLANs, PoE) and familiarity with server environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a customer-facing role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in relevant platforms such as Lenel and Milestone would be ideal, but proven experience with both platforms is considered more critical.
  • Experience with hyperscale or global enterprise security environments.
  • Familiarity with scripting or automation tools for system configuration.
  • Understanding of compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, SOC2) related to physical security systems.

Soft Skills:

  • Customer-first mindset with the ability to provide white-glove service.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Collaborative attitude, able to partner with cross-functional teams and adapt to changing requirements.

Location & Work Environment:

  • On-site or hybrid presence embedded within customer operations, with occasional travel to regional or global locations as required.
  • Must be willing to adhere to customer security policies and protocols.
