Network Infrastructure Security Engineer - F5 Load Balancing and InfoBlox DDI Engineer

Responsible for designing, implementing, and managing both F5 load balancing solutions for application delivery and Infoblox DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) for network core services, ensuring network performance, availability, and security. Key responsibilities include incident response, performing vulnerability assessments, developing, and deploying new services, managing platform lifecycles, including hardware, software, and cloud environments. This includes configuring F5 load balancers (LTM, GTM) & Infoblox platforms, troubleshooting load balancing and DDI issues, implementing, and engineering new services, developing automation scripts, and collaborating with teams to integrate these systems securely.

The Infrastructure Engineering team is responsible for leading the configuration, administration, troubleshooting and maintenance of technology solutions. The incumbent will design, build, enhance and integrate the infrastructure required to support various of high complexity throughout the Technology Department. The Principal Infrastructure Engineer mentors internal resources, interacts with external technical resources and contributes to Comerica's overall technology roadmap. This role will be responsible for designing and executing on endpoint solutions that provide an excellent user experience for all Comerica employees.

Position Responsibilities:
Design and Methodology


  • Utilize infrastructure engineering and research design methodologies appropriate to the development/test/production environment.
  • Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems.
  • Develop automated test solutions, Infrastructure as Code, and manage scripted code. Perform configuration and maintenance of applications and servers.
  • Support enterprise application performance management, monitoring and logging solutions.
  • Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Integrate servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated software into enterprise systems.
  • Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications.
  • Perform assigned in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
  • Test and deploy updates and upgrades to systems to remain in line with manufacturers and recommendations.


Technical Consulting


  • Troubleshoot and resolve first and second level network and wireless issues.
  • Present recommendations for engineering endpoint solutions and exercise independent judgment while developing understanding of the process, policies, and risk controls.
  • Troubleshoot and support systems and applications across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Communicate with engineers, product team, and management to provide timely and accurate information and status updates.
  • Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.


Risk Management


  • Proactively share information regarding risks and opportunities to build competitive advantages and create efficiencies.
  • Monitor and test system performance; prepare system performance statistics and reports.
  • Ensure all production services are replicated and maintained within a disaster recovery site and that the failover process is documented and tested.
  • Ensure infrastructure security, perform regular checks, and establish disaster recovery solutions.
  • Assist as needed during crisis and incidents and provide on-call support during non-business hours daily and/or as needed.


Administration/Support


  • Collaborate with IT and Business teammates in an agile development environment.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Position Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Engineering or in a Technology related field OR equivalent through a combination of education and/or technology experience OR 12 years of technology experience
  • 5 years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions
  • 5 years of experience analyzing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and determining root causes
  • 4 years of experience with cloud technologies and solutions
  • 4 years of experience with observability and proactive fault monitoring solutions
  • 4 years of experience designing, architecting and managing scalable, resilient, and highly available infrastructure solutions
  • 4 years of experience developing and maintaining infrastructure automation
  • 4 years of experience that infrastructure adheres to best practices for security and compliance


Licenses/Certifications:


  • AWS Certification preferred
  • OpenStack Certification preferred
