Job Description

Job Title: Field Tech - Repair & Installation Support

Location: Visalia/Fresno

Pay: $20hr - commensurate with experience

Position Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Plant Manager / Field Crew Lead

Summary:
The Field Tech is a specialized role responsible for ensuring trusses are properly installed, repaired, and aligned in the field. This role supports the plant's quality and installation standards by performing truss repairs, straight edging bottom chords for level ceilings, and assisting with tag lining during crane operations. This position is ideal for detail-oriented individuals with experience in truss systems, construction, or field repair work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform repairs on trusses in the field, correcting design or manufacturing errors.
  • Straight edge truss bottom chords to ensure ceilings remain flat and in-plane.
  • Assist crane operators by tag lining trusses safely onto the top plate during installation.
  • Follow all safety protocols while working at heights or around heavy equipment.
  • Collaborate with the plant and installation teams to identify and correct issues quickly.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Document repair work and any design deviations for quality control.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in truss construction, repair, or installation is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with reading truss plans, measurements, and alignment procedures.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in outdoor construction environments.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver heavy materials safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with tag lining and crane operations.
  • Knowledge of construction safety standards and OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to identify potential truss issues before installation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs to 75lbs.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work on elevated platforms.

Responsibilities

Read and understand set-up sheets.

Position plates properly.

Operate gantry.

Verify lumber accuracy with sheets.

Verify truss set up is accurate.

Perform daily operator maintenance.

Maintain 100% crew efficiency.

Mark individual trusses when required.

Train Builder Associates.


Qualifications

Able to read and write in their primary language.

Able to stand for long periods of time.

Able to read or able to learn to read a set up sheet.

Able to lift 50 pounds.
