SAP BW Analyst

We are looking for an experienced SAP BW Analyst to join our Data & Analytics team in the US or Canada, working closely with our Data Lake Data Engineer, cross-functional SAP COE Experts, Front Line IT members and the business departments to facilitate access to the data from the SAP BW platform.

The ideal candidate should leverage his/her technical expertise (data modeling, data integrations, issues troubleshooting, security, etc.), ABAP programming for SAP BW (e.g. Transformations, Start/End Routines), Hana View development expertise to meet business requirements and solve challenges as needed in SAP BW. The SAP BW Analyst will provide expertise on SAP BI applications which were developed to support business needs and additionally cover the day-to-day operations on the SAP BW platform. The candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, optimization and the improvement of the SAP BW platform.

This position requires to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong desire to help shape our Data & Analytics platforms strategy, particularly our SAP BI environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Be a SAP BW/HANA Subject Matter Expert.
• Organize and lead meetings and workshops with the Front Line IT, SAP COE Experts and the business teams: prepare functional and technical documents (FDD, TDD and UTP).
• Contribute to the development of the current BW landscape and architecture by modeling, designing, developing, testing and implementing the appropriate backend and front-end structures needed to meet business reporting requirements.
• Use your SAP BW and HANA expertise to successfully delivery end to end SAP BI projects, using SAP BW on HANA platform: define the solution architecture, design and configuration/development of extractors, staging objects (ODS Objects - Standard, Right Optimized, Direct Update), cubes, views and queries.
• Adhere to the SAP BI architecture, methodology and best practice to support the delivery of business intelligence solutions.
• Must have hands on experience in all areas of SAP BW on HANA or BW/4 HANA, which includes Modelling, Extraction (LO, COPA, Finance, Generic extractor), BW Reporting.
• Be responsible of the ongoing support and enhancement of all delivered SAP BI solutions, partnering with Data Lake Data Engineers, SAP COE Experts, Front Line IT and the business teams to deliver high quality performance and business value.
• Maintain BW structures for ETL processes and for data feeding in/out BW.
• Identify data quality gaps and develops a plan to close them.
• Conduct performance tuning and provide post-implementation support.
• Monitor process chains and address data load failures.
• Support system maintenance windows, system upgrade or migration whenever required.
• Stay up to date on the latest SAP BI features and trends, SAP cloud technologies to continuously improve our solutions and deliver innovative results for our business.
• Help bring together the best of SAP BI, Big Data, Cloud and Enterprise solutions to enable the next generation of Data & Analytics Strategy and tools.

Performance Achievements

• From the moment you start you will be proactive in obtaining good working relationships with your colleagues and external consultants focusing on SAP BI solutions.
• You will be required to contribute to projects to ensure stable solutions around SAP BI solutions after a brief acclimation period.
• We expect you to be familiar with the specific solutions in place after the incubation period.

Key Competence Requirements

You will need to have:

• Bachelor's / Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5 + years of experience in SAP BW within a professional environment, preferably in an industrial firm.
• Successfully deployed SAP BW solutions, ideally having been involved in more than 3 complete BW project life cycles.
• Extensively been involved in end-to-end BW Configurations and Customizations from Extraction, Staging, Loading, Performance Tuning, Transports, and Reporting using BEx.
• Customizations - Enhanced the Business Content data Sources as per business requirements and extensively involved in developing custom data sources using Tables, Views and Function Modules
• Solid Experience on BW extraction for SAP MM, PP, SD, Finance and COPA modules and the definition of the Business Rules in the ETL layer (Extract, Transform, Load).
• Demonstrated ability to debug and troubleshoot complex performance issues.
• Performance Optimization: Skills to fine-tune existing solutions for improved performance SAP BW platform.
• Experience on SAP BW security concepts, Authorizations & Roles.
• Familiarity with ABAP for data manipulation.
• Experience on SAP Native HANA, HANA XS.
• Solid experience in BEx Analyzer and Broadcasting is mandatory.
• Good knowledge of data visualization tools, particularly Power BI is a plus.
• CDS view creation on both SAP BW and SAP Suites.
• Excellent communication skills in English.

Preferred Skills:

• SAP BW certification (e.g. SAP Certified Associate - Data Engineer - SAP BW/4HANA)
• Knowledge of Power BI or other data visualization tools.
