Summary Job Description: Baptist Health Louisville is seeking a dedicated full-time Specialty Coordinator - Surgical Services (Main OR) to join our team. This entry-level management role is responsible for coordinating patient care during designated shifts and supporting operational and clinical activities within the surgical services unit. The Specialty Coordinator provides leadership to nursing staff, ensuring high-quality care across the lifespan-from infancy to geriatrics-within the scope of the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act. Responsibilities include assisting the Nurse Manager with staffing, scheduling, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, staff education, and coordination of care. The coordinator collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes, maintains clinical proficiency, and acts as a resource and role model for nursing staff. Additional duties include supporting performance improvement initiatives, managing equipment and supply needs, maintaining surgeons' preference cards, and participating in capital budget planning. This role requires strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and a commitment to continuous professional development. The Specialty Coordinator will also engage with physicians, anesthesiologists, and vendors to ensure optimal surgical services delivery.
