The primary purpose of the Pharmacy Technician is to assist the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager with serving customers and maintaining the Community Pharmacy at Baptist Health. Performs all functions and duties with the patient at the center, ensuring prompt and friendly service in the Community Pharmacy. Description:
- Orders pharmaceuticals and supplies maintain adequate inventory controls and ensuring appropriate product selection.
- Purchases through the appropriate class of trade to meet contract compliance and financial budgets.
- Establishes, implements, maintains, and manages a pharmacy purchasing system that ensures proper controls, checks and balances are maintained. * Maintains all purchase records, invoices, receipts, and inventory control records.
- Understands 340B implications for ordering and purchases pharmaceuticals in accordance with requirements of the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
- Assists with receiving inventory into centralized pharmacy services center.
- Takes responsibility to reconcile any discrepancies identified between orders and shipments in a timely fashion using technology and observation.
- Reconciles and acknowledges/approves invoices and incoming credit memos to facilitate timely payments.
- Establish relationships with vendors and manufacturer representatives to stay informed about new developments and available resources.
- Assists in identifying cost savings initiatives in procurement, pricing, and clinical initiatives.
- Identifies and takes action when processes can be improved to reduce waste, improve workflow, optimize inventory and reduce drug expenses.
- Has control over inventory to ensure proper storage and rotation of all medications, removal of expired drugs, and return of any overstock of medications.
- Helps set and maintain stock levels within the department's inventory control program.
- Monitors and manages inventory on an ongoing basis for opportunities for enhanced inventory turns and decreased expired medications.
- Manages the pharmacy reverse distribution services.
- Manages product recalls ensuring timely communication, record keeping, and follow through.
- Assists in coordination and execution of scheduled physical inventory.
- Assists in investigation and resolution of any product inquiries or concerns.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma.
- 3 years of experience.
- Advanced purchasing experience in healthcare and/or with a healthcare provider preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and other pharmacy related applications (Omnicell, Epic) preferred.
- National Pharmacy Technician certification within 6 months of hire.
- Must obtain completion of 340B University or Apexus certification within 6 months.
