Type: Full Time Location: JBSA Lackland Overtime Exempt: Nonexempt Reports To: ARMADA HQ Security Clearance Required: Active Top Secret with SCI Eligibility ************CONTINGENT UPON AWARD************** The Security Specialist III will provide comprehensive Information Protection (IP) program support to the 688th Cyberspace Wing (688 CW). This role supports the Information Security (INFOSEC), Personnel Security (PERSEC), Physical Security (PHYSEC), Security Education & Training Awareness (SETA), and Industrial Security programs. The Security Specialist IIO will deliver direct customer service, guidance, and compliance support to 688 CW local units, Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) units, and geographically separated units (GSUs). Duties & Responsibilities: Security Specialist III requires professionals with extensive knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Air Force (DAF), and National Industrial Security Program (NISP) policies, along with experience executing security functions at the unit, wing, or higher command level. These duties include, but are not limited to the following: Information Security (INFOSEC) Program Support
- Security Specialist III will provide guidance to customers on safeguarding classified information, including classification markings, derivative classification, storage, destruction, transmission, and transportation.
- Respond to security inquiries in writing within 3 business days (95% standard).
- Notify government officials within 24 hours of reported security incidents and assist in documenting, researching, and determining violations or infractions.
- Security Specialist III will maintain active access to required networks (NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, DISS, NP2, e-QIP/e-App, EPRM, SWFT, Assured ID) to support mission-critical functions.
- Provide guidance on the proper handling of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and assist customers with required CUI training resources.
- Security Specialists III will perform Wing-level Unit Security Assistant (USA) duties, including clearance tracking and security training for wing staff.
Personnel Security (PERSEC) Program Support
- Security Specialists III will manage in/out-processing, indoctrinations, and debriefings for personnel requiring access to classified information.
- Act as the briefing official for indoctrinations and debriefings; update DISS within 2 business days to reflect changes in clearance/access.
- Maintain the Unit Security Management Office (SMO) code in DISS with no more than 10% margin of error during inspections.
- Security Specialists III will verify eligibility, access, and need-to-know for all personnel requiring classified access.
- Initiate, monitor, and process Personnel Security Investigations (PSIs), e-QIPs/e-App, and electronic fingerprint submissions within established timelines.
- Support pre-employment clearance actions for new civilian hires, including interim and periodic reinvestigations.
- Security Specialists III will track Continuous Evaluation (CE) enrollment eligibility and process Compelling Need (CN) requests for interim SCI access.
- Notify members of clearance eligibility changes within 3 business days; escalate unfavorable determinations as required.
- Maintain the Wing's personnel security database with a 95% accuracy standard.
- Process visitor access requests, personal status change reports, and liaison with DCSA regarding investigation/adjudication status.
- Security Specialists III will manage and establish DISS accounts for USAs within 30 days of appointment.
Physical Security (PHYSEC) Program Support
- Security Specialists III will assist with compliance and oversight of physical security measures to deter unauthorized access and protect classified facilities, materials, and personnel.
- Provide written guidance on access controls, SCIF construction, PED/prohibited items policies, and other physical security inquiries within 3 business days (95% standard).
- Manage entry credential issuance and accountability, including maintaining records in Assured ID and conducting annual inventories.
- Process visitor controls, escort requirements, and Entry Access List (EAL) coordination in DISS.
Security Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA)
- Security Specialists III will develop and update security education and training materials to support a robust SETA program.
- Participate in quarterly USA SETA meetings, provide training, and host sessions as required.
- Security Specialists III will stay current on security guidance and policy changes; implement required process updates within 60 days of publication.
- Industrial Security Program Support
- Security Specialists III will support Industrial Security Program tasks in accordance with the NISPOM and Air Force industrial security guidance.
- Coordinate contractor access requests, validate DD Form 254 security requirements, and ensure Facility Clearance (FCL) compliance.
- Conduct SCI indoctrinations and debriefings for contractor employees as required.
- Security Specialists III will process SCI sponsorship and Customer Service Requests (CSRs) through DISS within 5 business days of requirement identification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Security Specialists III must have strong knowledge of:
- DODM 5200.01 V3 / DAFMAN 16-1404 V3 (Information Security)
- AFMAN 16-1405 (Personnel Security)
- DoD 5200.08-R (Physical Security)
- 32 CFR Part 117 - NISPOM (Industrial Security)
- Proficient with DISS, NP2, e-QIP/e-App, SWFT, Assured ID, and related systems.
- Ability to manage multiple security programs simultaneously and meet strict compliance deadlines.
Minimum Education/Experience:
- HS Diploma, or equivalent
- 8 years of experience supporting at least two (2) of the following task areas are required:
- Information Security (INFOSEC)
- Personnel Security (PERSEC)
- Physical Security (PHYSEC)
- Security Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA)
- Industrial Security (NISPOM)
- Must have working knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review independently, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems.
- Experience in preparing reports, conducting briefings, and providing written guidance in a security environment.
