Position Summary
The Senior Dimensional Control Surveyor plays a critical role within Oceaneering's Inspection group, providing advanced technical expertise in dimensional control surveying across offshore and onshore oil field operations. This position is responsible for executing and overseeing complex survey activities, ensuring precision in data collection, analysis, and reporting. The role involves collaboration with engineering, fabrication, and quality teams to support project execution, resolve technical challenges, and maintain compliance with industry standards and Oceaneering procedures. The Senior Surveyor also contributes to planning, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives within the survey discipline. This is an US based position out of the Broussard, LA or Houston, TX location. Ability to travel frequent to inspection sites and designated geographic area as needed. Ability to travel domestically and international as assigned.
Duties And Responsibilities
* Conduct a wide range of dimensional control surveys at offshore and onshore work sites in accordance with Oceaneering procedures and industry standards. * Lead the development and execution of survey methodologies, including preparation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS). * Perform pre-mobilization checks and ensure readiness of survey and scanning equipment. * Provide expert guidance on best practices and resolve technical survey queries efficiently. * Respond to client and internal technical inquiries, delivering high-quality media and documentation within agreed timelines. * Prepare detailed survey scopes, including man-hour and equipment estimates where applicable. * Process captured survey data and generate final deliverables, including 2D drawings, 3D models, and comprehensive reports. * Conduct QA/QC analysis to ensure data integrity and compliance with project specifications. * Model 3D data into CAD formats and verify accuracy of drawings and models. * Operate online survey software and monitor data quality to meet project specifications. * Ensure survey activities are completed within budget and schedule, reporting progress, and identifying scope changes as needed. * Supervise and mentor junior survey personnel, supporting their development and ensuring adherence to Oceaneering standards. * Support the preparation of pre-qualification documents, proposals, tenders, and work programs for new and existing clients. * Comply with Oceaneering's Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and procedures. * Report incidents, near misses, hazards, and positive safety behaviors promptly, and participate in investigations when required. * Actively engage in HSE meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, audits, and other safety-related activities. * Perform all duties responsibly, considering environmental, social, and economic impacts. * Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as required to support organizational objectives.
Qualifications
REQUIRED * Minimum five (5) years of experience in dimensional control surveying, preferably in the oil & gas or energy sector. * Extensive experience as a Land/Engineering Surveyor * Skilled in application of all aspects of Surveying including best fit techniques, error propagation and datums. * Skilled with geomatics and point cloud processing packages (Leica Cyclone, Faro Scene, LSS, Recap). * Skilled in understanding client requirements and scopes of work and ensure that the Scope of Work and contract deliverables are fully understood. * Strong knowledge in various applicable survey software systems and Microsoft packages. * Familiarity with offshore survey standards (e.g., ISO, ASME, API). * Skilled regarding calibration requirements and procedures of the survey systems and sensors. * Proficient in handling multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-engery environment and willing to embrace new challenges. * Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. * Ability to work in challenging environments, including offshore and remote locations. * Valid Driver's License and ability to travel as needed. * Must have or be able to obtain TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). * Must be able to obtain a valid Passport and any other regionally mandated offshore work requirement documents as appropriate. DESIRED * Bachelor's degree in surveying or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Registered in the State of Louisiana as an active Professional Land Surveyor in good standing. * Availability to participate in an on-call rotation, including afterhours and weekend coverage. * Valid offshore certifications (e.g., BOSIET, HUET) preferred. Additional Information
WORKING CONDITIONS This position is considered ONSHORE / OFFSHORE WORK which is characterized as follows. * Outdoors and indoors, day and night, as well as over/near water. * Requires working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment. * Frequently the humidity is above 90%, noise is over 85 decibels, and the light are intense/glare. * Potential exposure to open fire/flames/sparks. * Constant exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases. * Work surface is stable, height is elevated. * Exposure to radiation in controlled settings. * Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. * On-Call availability for emergency response.
