Maintenance Worker II University Housing Georgia State University University Housing is seeking to hire a Maintenance Worker II to perform skilled manual work involving a variety of mechanical and building trade tasks in the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, sheetrock, and HVAC required. This position may be required to work evenings and weekends. WHAT MAKES Housing A GREAT PLACE? * Generous benefits, including health, dental, vision, tuition assistance, retirement, etc. * A knowledge-sharing organization that works collaboratively with diverse partners. * Professional development opportunity and mentorship * A rapidly growing center within an academic setting HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO The essential duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Worker II are the following: - Repair, build, and paint drywall in residence halls. - Responsible for repairing electric outlets, installing wiring for small jobs, and replacing breakers and electrical wires. - Repair kitchen appliances, stove burners, garbage disposals, dishwashers, and refrigerators and icemakers. - Repair and replace electrical hallway lighting, ballasts, light globes, exit lights, outside lights, and deck lights. - Perform repairs on heating, domestic, HVAC, sprinkler lines, and filter replacement for HVAC systems. - Perform maintenance on plumbing fixtures, sinks, toilets, and tub/shower units in apartments. - Repairs minor problems with tools and/or machinery to complete tasks. - Maintains tools and supplies in the storage room. - Repair and install window dressing and replace glass, screens, locks, and door closures as needed. - Knowledge of the fire alarm system such as troubleshooting, smoke head replacements, heat detector replacements, system operation, and resetting after incidents/repairs. - Resolve TMA work orders as requested. - Attends and participates in regular unit and departmental meetings. - Participate in departmental committees, interview processes, and training. - Participate in the on-call rotation schedule and respond to all calls after hours. - Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Hiring Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and two years of related experience. A valid Georgia driver's License is required. Completion of technical or vocational training may be substituted for one year of related experience. Preferred Hiring Qualifications: Experience working within residential housing units - Knowledge of methods, practices, tools, equipment, and materials used in performing buildings and mechanical trades tasks. - Knowledge of personal computers - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. or more - Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds.
