YOUR IMPACT

We are seeking a Principal Software Architect to lead the transformation of a Cloud Fax platform running on Solaris SPARC into a modern, cloud-native microservices architecture. This platform handles real-time, time-sensitive communications and integrates with telecom infrastructure, making reliability, scalability, and performance critical.

The current system consists of hundreds of packages deployed on virtual machines, utilizes Sybase, and MySQL databases, supports disaster recovery, and includes multiple internal databases supporting reporting, analytics, and service monitoring. The new architecture must support disaster recovery, high availability, serverless architecture as applicable, and telecom-grade performance.

WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS

  • Architect and lead the migration of a legacy software as a service into a cloud-native microservices platform.
  • Design scalable, resilient systems capable of handling real-time, time-sensitive communications.
  • Integrate telecom edge systems and media services based on SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), including business fax and voice, into the new architecture.
  • Modernize database architecture, transitioning from Sybase and fragmented internal databases to unified, scalable data platforms.
  • Incorporate document processing capabilities including parsers, rendering engines, rasterization, and OCR technologies.
  • Ensure disaster recovery readiness and high availability in the new cloud-native environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, product management, and security.
  • Define and enforce architectural standards, reusable patterns, and governance frameworks.
  • Present architectural vision and technical strategy to senior leadership and stakeholders.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • 15+ years of experience in enterprise software architecture, with a focus on cloud modernization and telecom systems.
  • Proven experience rearchitecting monolithic systems into microservices.
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Experience deploying and scaling services on public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong background in real-time systems, telecom protocols (especially SIP), and time-sensitive service design.
  • Experience with document processing technologies including parsers, rendering, rasterization, and OCR.
  • Familiarity with legacy platforms (Solaris SPARC, Sybase) and modern cloud platforms.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across technical and business teams.
  • Experience with enterprise fax, messaging, or document exchange platforms.
  • Knowledge of data governance, compliance (PCI, HIPAA, GDPR), and secure data handling practices.
  • Background in designing scalable SaaS platforms and hybrid cloud strategies.
  • Experience with service observability, telemetry, and performance monitoring in distributed systems.
