We are seeking a high-energy, experienced Quality Control Chemist with strong technical and laboratory expertise to support our New Braunfels facility, a leading O&G chemical manufacturer of emulsion polymers. The ideal candidate must be local, detail-oriented, and flexible, with the ability to work extended hours or weekends during peak demand. Standard hours are the day shift, Monday through Friday. This role reports directly to the Manager of Quality and Operations Planning and works closely with the Operations, R&D, Maintenance, and Engineering teams. LOCATION: New Braunfels, TX
Responsibilities
- Perform daily testing of production batches (intermediate and finished products), including Brookfield viscosity, UL, density/specific gravity, pour point, oil separation/product compaction, flow loop testing, % solids testing, and HPLC analysis (% acrylamide).
- Evaluate inbound raw materials, verify COAs against internal specifications, and perform limited testing (e.g., % concentration, appearance, pH).
- Maintained accurate lab records and documented results in facility systems.
- Conduct lab-scale experimentation (1-2L glass reactors) to evaluate raw materials, reaction profiles, and potential plant production processes. Summarize findings and provide feedback to the operations.
- Multitask across lab tests and experiments efficiently once trained.
- Partner with operations to ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards.
- Develop and share best practices across the organization.
- Collaborate with supplier quality management and participate in customer audits.
- Support root cause investigations as needed.
- Oversee calibration and preventive maintenance of lab equipment.
- Manage QC consumables and supplies.
- Lead or support special projects as assigned.
- Maintain and enforce laboratory health and safety programs.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree - in Chemistry or related science degree is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- 4 Years - of experience in Quality Control or Analytical Laboratory work.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Experience with emulsion polymerization and/or R&D preferred.
- Supervisory experience in a lab setting is a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in Quality Management systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and a strong team player.
- Ability to work standard hours with occasional weekend/on-call responsibilities.

- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
- Stand, sit, and walk for extended periods.
- Perform tasks requiring squatting, kneeling, climbing stairs/ladders, gripping, grasping, pinching, and overhead reaching.
- Work in varied environmental conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc.).
