Postdoctoral Research Associate - Plastics Engineering

General Summary of Position:

The successful applicant will conduct analytical and experimental research in the areas of plastics processing and characterization with an emphasis on extrusion and structure-properties relations. The postdoc will also help immediate supervisor in writing scholarly articles and reports. Assist with classes as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

Education:



  • Ph.D. in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials/Polymer Engineering or related field


Experience:

At least three years of laboratory research experience and student mentoring

Skills:



  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency with scientific computing software and chemistry and processing laboratory techniques


Additional Considerations:



  • Should demonstrate a minimum number of at least 2 publications in the field
  • Ability to work independently, with limited direction, as well as within a team environment
  • Ability to mentor and inspire students with limited research experience


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with polymer characterization and analysis
  • Knowledge of polymer processing, rheology, sustainability, and process modeling
