Job Summary:

Supervise and manage the operation, upkeep, maintenance, and repairs of the property, all equipment, systems, and furnishings, and administer the department in compliance with Crescent standards and applicable codes and regulations to protect assets, guests and associates. Perform minor repairs as needed and manage all third -party operation and maintenance contracts, including landscaping, pool, HVAC, elevators, security systems, IT infrastructure, trash collection, and window washing.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) and other equipment throughout the hotel.
  • Hands-on experience with pool maintenance, including water chemistry, filtration systems, pumps, and compliance with local health and safety regulations.
  • Perform with staff resources or manage third party maintenance agreements to ensure preventative maintenance occurs correctly and on a scheduled basis.
  • Assist the GM in sourcing and contracting third party service and maintenance agreements.
  • Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
  • Communicate with hotel department heads to become aware of maintenance needs and ensure timely response to internal requests.
  • Manage the pool maintenance contractor to ensure the pool chemical balance and cleaning are maintained to hygiene standards and for a high-quality guest experience, completing maintenance request forms and record logs.
  • Maintain the building exterior and "curb appeal" (e.g., lawn care, painting, and gardening).
  • Maintain Owner and Crescent standards and follow-up on inspection deficiencies.
  • Coordinate compliance of service contracts.
  • Implements and maintains Crescent's preventative maintenance program.
  • Implement and maintain Crescent's room care programs.
  • Manage warranties of building components, equipment, and systems to ensure compliance with the warranties given the Owner during construction.
  • Oversee annual inspections of consultants and firms in the continuing administration of warranties and asset maintenance in compliance with Florida condo statutes.
  • Implement and maintain Crescent's engineering department minimum standards.
  • Assist General Manager with annual Capital Plan development.
  • Actively participate in Crescent's Safety Plan and energy improvements.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication, and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:



  • Minimum 10 years as a Director of Engineering.
  • Previous Director of Engineering in a hotel setting highly preferred.
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English and Spanish.
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Can communicate well with guests.
  • Must be willing to "pitch-in" and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Must be able to recognize potential safety hazards and security problems in the hotel and act upon each accordingly.
  • Be skilled in several areas such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical malfunctions in hotel systems and equipment.
  • Must be willing and able to be responsive to complaints about maintenance.
