Minimum Job Requirements

* Physical- Sedentary work, proficient in using a PC keyboard and computer.

* Working Hours- fulltime (40+ hrs/week) employment

* Personal Traits- Excellent communication skills with positive teamwork and safety attitude. Ability to interface and communicate effectively with various department personnel and supervisors. Conscientious attention to detail and accuracy while able to multi-task and trouble shoot.

* Display good leadership qualities. Be a role model for all departments and set the standard of productivity, safety, and quality for employees of different levels to follow.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for handling larger or highly complex projects by reviewing customer drawings and preparing quotations for products that align with Latitude's business model. Assist Aerospace and Defense Sales engineer as needed. Ensuring profitability of all commercial products by routinely reviewing job travelers to ensure allocated processing times are either met or adjusted. Update product pricing as materials and labor rates change. Authority to directly discuss with customers or potential customers the manufacturability of products and quotations. Authority as granted by VP of Engineering and Business Development to manage various ad hoc projects. Evaluate requests for quote to determine bid/no-bid.

* Review drawings and all other documents that provide requirements and specifications and get clarification from customer, as needed.

* Work with production and product engineering to understand product flow to support quote.

* Provide quote responses to customers.

* Maintain customer requirements in the ERP system.

* Resolve differences between quote and actual order.

* Monitor product profitability to prevent erosion and make adjustments or suggested improvements as needed.

* Work with existing customers to identify follow-on and new product opportunities.

* For existing products, ensure no changes have occurred since last order. If changes have occurred, understand implications and adjust pricing as needed. Communicate changes to product engineering and production.

* Determine what, if any, devices (i.e., tools, dies, jigs, gauges, fixtures, measuring devices, equipment etc.) are (might be) needed for new or modified products. Research cost of such devices to determine impact on pricing.

* Assist the Manufacturing Engineer Team in determining new equipment investigation and ROI's for new equipment.

* Create internal drawing package and/or upload to appropriate database drive.

* Retrieve and upload all auxiliary documents to support drawing package, e.g., federal regulations or industry standards.

* Lead Contract Review, if order is received, to provide hand-off to product engineering for new modified products, or to production for existing products.

* Support Product Engineer in technical requirements (FFF) interpretation.

* Support Purchasing in material negotiations and pricing.

* Review labor standards regularly to ensure accuracy. Propose changes, as needed.

* Review actual product costs to quote to determine accuracy and adjust, as needed.

* Creation of Control Plans and PFEMA's

* Research and industry trends, competitor products, and market needs to determine markets for the company to target.

* Other ad hoc duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Ability to interface with customers and apply customer concepts or blueprints to a manufacturing method or determine manufacturing feasibility.

* Advance knowledge and experience in metal/machine shop techniques.

* Strong project management experience, with the ability to handle multiple large projects at once.

* Advanced knowledge in using an ERP system, SolidWorks modelling software, Word and Excel.

* Ability to read, understand and explain schematics, blueprints and/or technical manuals.

* Possess basic math skills including ability to read and use tape measure, caliper and micrometer to the fraction and decimal.

* Ability to assess operational requirements and to plan and organize work flow patterns and schedules.

* Good leadership and communication skills, ability to effectively direct and help train the work of Sales Engineers 1 - 2's and as well as manage a project through potentially many departments by eliciting the support of floor supervisors and quality and scheduling.

* Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or related field) with 5-10 years of experience in Sales Engineering, or 10+ years of Sales Engineering experience.
