Head of Production - Machine Assembly

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Production - Machine Assembly to lead our assembly operations. This role is responsible for optimizing technical and human resources to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products. A key focus will also be the setup and ongoing improvement of an effective, lean supply chain, leveraging tools from our ERP/business systems.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a background in mechanical assembly, lean manufacturing, and process optimization, who thrives in a dynamic, high-performance environment.

• Lead by example with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to high performance.

• Establish, maintain, and continuously improve production processes-both technical and organizational.

• Assign personnel and make strategic operational decisions to optimize workflows and resource utilization.

• Collaborate closely with the Industrial Engineering team to resolve Bill of Materials (BOM) discrepancies.

• Support the development and implementation of test fixtures for component validation.

• Champion SYNCHRO principles and shop floor management (SFM); regularly lead and contribute to SFM meetings.

• Drive continuous improvement through Improvement Kata and problem-solving initiatives.

• Design and refine production layouts; establish efficient material flow to support seamless operations.

• Collect, analyze, and act on production data to identify bottlenecks, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency.

• Ensure product quality through proactive control measures and problem-solving via the Quality Management (QM) system.

• Document and follow up on quality issues and corrective actions

• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical assembly or manufacturing.

• Proven understanding of lean supply chain principles (Just-In-Time, Kanban).

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage production schedules, and optimize workflows.

• Experience with SAP (especially production modules) strongly preferred.

• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is a strong plus.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

• Bilingual in German and English is a plus.

• Associate degree (2-year technical degree) or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.

• Training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Industrial Engineering is desirable.
