The Senior Director of IT Enterprise Applications provides executive leadership and strategic direction for the planning, implementation, and optimization of enterprise applications across the health system. This role ensures alignment of technology initiatives with organizational goals, oversees application portfolio governance, and drives value realization through innovation, compliance, and operational excellence. The Senior Director collaborates with cross-functional leaders to enhance clinical and business outcomes, reduce technical debt, and ensure the effective use of IT resources.

This position is eligible for remote work for candidates residing in the following states - VA, MD, DC, DE, FL, GA, NC, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, WV. May need to be on-site as needed.

Job Responsibilities


  • Leads the strategic planning and execution of enterprise application initiatives aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Governs the enterprise application portfolio, ensuring prioritization, resource allocation, and lifecycle management.
  • Chairs the Clinical Application Portfolio Council to guide project selection and performance tracking.
  • Drives application rationalization efforts to eliminate redundancy and enhance value.
  • Collaborates with clinical, financial, and operational leaders to align IT strategies with system-wide goals.
  • Ensures compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and cybersecurity standards.
  • Develops and manages multi-million-dollar capital and operational budgets.
  • Establishes and monitors quality improvement processes across application systems.
  • Conducts quarterly portfolio reviews to assess investment value and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Partners with IT Security, Analytics, and Infrastructure teams to ensure application scalability and performance.
  • Mentors and develops IT leaders, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support system optimization.
  • Makes data-driven decisions regarding technology selection, system security, and administrative controls.
  • Ensure timely completion of leadership development plans, performance reviews, and team evaluations.
  • Oversees assigned department or functional area to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, preparing and implementing business strategy to achieve the organization's goals, ensuring legal compliance, communicating and collaborating with stakeholders, managing employment decisions and contributions of supporting team members, and managing departmental budget and fiscal success.

Additional Requirements

Certification - Epic Certification or Accreditation within 6 months of hire

Experience - 8 years of IT Experience; Background in leading technology and one or more of the following areas: nursing, ancillary services, finance and/or hospital administration. Including 5 years of IT management experience.

Education - Bachelor's degree; or Associate degree and 2 years relevant professional experience in addition to the minimum Experience requirement; or HS Diploma/GED and 4 years relevant professional experience in addition to the minimum Experience requirement
