Job Title: Sr. Logistics Specialist

Job Location: Columbia, MD

Hours: 1st Shift - (7:00am-4:30pm)

Hourly Rate: Up to $29hr depending on experience + Paid Holidays and PTO Time

Job Summary:


  • Come join our team! We currently have an exciting possible Temp-to-Perm opportunity in Columbia, MD for a Sr. Logistics Specialist with 10+ years of experience in inventory management and controls. Experience in DoD manufacturing operations is preferred.


Job Description:


  • Perform all mid-level logistical activities pertaining to the receiving, storage, kitting, inventory, and shipping of all materials delivered to, managed by, and shipped from company.
  • Stock and restock inventory locations within the assigned locations.
  • As needed, prepare, update, and submit status reports, cycle counts, property stock records, and other warehouse best practice paperwork.
  • Understand all direct and indirect knowledge by observation, training and overall instructions given by supervisor, and team members.
  • Gather information needed from any relevant source including but not limited to Planning, Purchasing, Engineering, Production, Quality, Programs, Accounting, etc. with minimal supervision.
  • Obtain information from different types of paperwork directly and indirectly from individuals, both external and internal, freight bills, packing lists, receipt travelers, pick lists, shipping documents.
  • Consult team members both above and below your position as needed for tenured advice and lower-level coaching on processes.
  • Maintain an overall working knowledge of the International Organization of Standards (ISO) protocols associated with materials and warehousing methodology.
  • Maintain an understanding and working knowledge for of company's internal operational programs (e.g., ERP Deltek Costpoint, IBM Cognos Analytics, and DataMill RepairData).
  • Assist with ensuring the validity of accuracy and correctness of materials and documents as they are related throughout all processes.
  • Handling, lifting, pulling, and pushing of items occurring during daily work-related activities.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of rack, shelf, bin locations and overall layout requirements.
  • Ensure overall accuracy and accountability of all items and equipment within your area of operation.
  • Interface with direct and indirect assigned personnel to determine causes of inaccurate material balances.
  • Assist as needed to assure all applicable government, company, security, and safety regulations are followed.
  • Delegate authority for operation and maintenance to personnel as needed.
  • Assist with and direct as needed the unloading of large and small trucks and individual packages in accordance with current best practices and company SOPs.
  • Ensure daily task of moving materials throughout the processes may require sustained body movements (push, pulling, turning, lifting, and squatting to complete assigned tasks.).
  • Assist in the overall strategic equipment and work area cleanliness, organization, while maintaining an area free of debris and hazards.
  • Work with direct and indirect leadership to understand and improve all direct and indirect related company SOPs and overall flow.
  • Ability to correctly lift, carry, and move 50lbs as needed.
  • Ability to correctly physical movement of 50lbs or greater with mechanical advantage (e.g., Dolly, pallet jack, forklift.).
  • Load, unload, or stack containers, boxes, materials, or products.
  • Assist with ensuring the accuracy and correctness of both materials and documents as they are related throughout all processes.
  • Operate and assist with oversight of different forms of technology, computers, and a multitude of databases to enter, retrieve, and monitor transactions; print documents, labels, and reports daily.
  • Monitor, manage, and create as needed a work calendar and email platform (OUTLOOK) on company provided devices.
  • Communicate via email and face-to-face with both internal and external team members, leaders, partners, vendors, and organizations on a dynamic level and timeline.
  • Providing information to, or requesting from, supervisors, co-workers, and other employees of internal departments and external operation, as necessary, by telephone, written form, e-mail, or in-person.
  • Assist in the coordination and team effort to ensure all items meet Service Level Agreements (SLA) within the prescribed timeline by properly communicating (E.g., Stock outages, shipment delays, and misidentified items.).
  • Assist in maintaining an open and honest line of communication, for ideas and process improvement.


Required:


  • 10+ years of experience in inventory management and controls. Experience in DoD manufacturing operations is preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing Storeroom/Warehouse environment.
  • Forklift experience, with a clean safety record. (Forklift certification/license is a plus)
  • Experience with inventory control and data entry.
  • Experience with Microsoft products.


Preferred:


  • Experience with ERP Deltek Costpoint, IBM Cognos Analytics, and/or DataMill RepairData is a plus.
  • Experience in DoD manufacturing operations preferred.
