Job Description
General Purpose of Job: The Client Infrastructure Technician is responsible for providing technical support, maintenance, and administration of the organization's virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments, including Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), and VMware Horizon View. This role ensures the seamless operation of end-user computing systems by supporting virtual desktop deployments, troubleshooting user issues, and assisting in the optimization of VDI solutions. The Client Infrastructure Technician works closely with IT teams to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing client infrastructure. - Provide day-to-day technical support for virtual desktop infrastructure (Citrix, AVD, and VMware Horizon View) environments.
- Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of VDI solutions and related technologies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve end-user access, performance, and connectivity issues within the virtual desktop environment.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity, escalating issues as needed to senior engineers.
- Perform regular system updates, patches, and security configurations for virtual desktop environments.
- Manage user profiles, policies, and application delivery through tools such as Citrix Studio, Azure Portal, and VMware Horizon Console.
- Assist in managing client devices and thin clients used to access virtual desktops.
- Maintain documentation of VDI configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, and security teams to support VDI-related projects and initiatives.
- Participate in the testing and rollout of new VDI features, upgrades, and security patches.
Job Requirements
General Requirements |
* Citrix Certified Associate - Virtualization (CCA-V), preferred. * Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty, preferred. * VMware Certified Technical Associate - Desktop and Mobility (VCTA-DTM), preferred. * CompTIA A+ or Network+, preferred. |
Education |
* High School Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of experience in an IT support role. * Associate's degree in Information Technology or a related field with 1+ years of experience in an IT support role. * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field preferred. |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
* Basic knowledge of Citrix technologies (Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops), Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), or VMware Horizon View. * Familiarity with Windows desktop operating systems and Active Directory. * Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN) related to VDI environments. * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for end-user computing issues. * Exposure to client device management tools and thin client hardware is a plus. * Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. * Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving technologies. |
