Clinical Research Coordinator - Psychiatry - Behavioral Medicine - Elbogen Lab

Participates in or lead day-to-day operations of clinical research studies conducted by principal investigator(s) at Duke Health; performs a variety of duties involved in the collection, compilation, documentation, and analysis of clinical research data. May oversee the work of junior staff and train or mentor others in clinical research tasks.

This position will primarily support the Duke Behavioral Health and Technology Lab. This lab is dedicated to advancing mental health care for veterans and service members through innovative mobile technology solutions. Since 2016, the team has led cutting-edge clinical research to develop accessible and effective tools that empower individuals to actively engage in their own recovery. The work is supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health and the U.S. Department of Defense. Current projects include testing mobile neuromodulatory applications to reduce pain and exploring cognitive rehabilitation tools for veterans with traumatic brain injury and traumatic stress. They combine rigorous science with a deep commitment to serving those who have served.

Minimum Requirements:



  • Completion of an Associate's degree
  • Work requires a minimum of two years of relevant research experience. A bachelor's degree may substitute for 2 years required experience


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in neuroscience, psychology, counseling, social work, or related field
  • Experience working with veterans in either a research, educational, or clinical capacity
  • Native or professional fluency in Spanish is highly desirable
  • Prior research experience in mental health, Veterans Affairs, or clinical psychology studies
  • Prior training or experience administering standardized behavioral assessments or structured diagnostic interviews


Other Requirements:



  • Possession of a reliable personal vehicle and willingness to travel for work-related activities


  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with multiple recruiting sites
  • Ability to adapt to changing project needs and contribute support across multiple ongoing research studies

  4. Data entry and other administrative tasks
  5. IRB and regulatory assistance
  6. Supporting other research projects in the department as needed, depending on study timelines and team priorities.

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $59,829.00 to USD $99,960.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate' s work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
