Job Summary

The Painter role is responsible for carrying out the required standard activities of their assigned tasks, in full compliance to the Work Instruction and/or Standard Operating Procedure, and without compromise to their own, and colleagues, safety.



Responsible for highly skilled or routine tasks associated with complex aircraft parts and assemblies, which include the painting of metallic and composite surfaces; corrosion control; surface preparation and the operation of aircraft paint support equipment; identification of technical issues and maintenance of technical publications. Position also works with stencilling and the application of tapes and transfers.

Job Responsibilities
* Determine amount of product to use when mixing batches by performing mathematical ratios.
* Clean equipment and work areas by following written procedures.
* Dispose of hazardous waste in an appropriate manner by following company guidelines.
* Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust from surfaces in preparation for paint application by using abrasives, solvents, brushes, washing tanks or sandblasters.
* Verify paint consistency by using a viscosity meter.
* Clean prepared item by mixing and applying alcohol solution.
* Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers or power equipment by using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths.
* Select the correct spray gun system for the material being applied by following the work order.
Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum three (3) years of work experience with GKN or three (3) years direct and related work experience performing the functions required by the position.
  • Work experience and/or training in the use of all types of spray paint equipment and hand tools, wrapping, and stripping for paint, cleaning and corrosion removal required.
  • Experience in paint preparation procedures, mix and spray of paints, primers and chemicals.
