Description
The NPI Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the timely management and procurement of raw materials, fixtures, tools, MRO items and services within established cost, quality and delivery guidelines as it relates to quoting new projects and bringing new projects into production. This individual acts as the primary liaison between program management, engineering, production and Supply Chain functions throughout the company. Essential Job Functions:
- Manages the Supply Chain Management function for new programs through successful first Article Inspection completion.
- Accepts and scrutinizes supplier bids or proposals and ensures competitive cost.
- Determines expected lead time and develops a schedule with critical milestones identified, providing regular report outs to ensure supplier(s) meet the schedule.
- Selects and/or develops sources based upon analysis, ensuring the use of the current suppliers which are in alignment with the strategic sourcing strategy of the Commodity team.
- Work in conjunction with the Commodity team to identify and develop new suppliers for products and services that the current supply base cannot adequately support.
- Conducts thorough analysis of all outside processing for NMG as well as sub-suppliers.
- Provides direction to the project team regarding print/design review, technical publication interpretation, source selection, price and terms negotiation for new products in the supply base.
- Involves suppliers early in design process to optimize design and reduce cost.
- Monitors short- and long-term material requirements needs; develops and implements effective plans to assure material availability and capacity at selected supplier.
- Maintains product procurement costs within established project goals for each component and overall, Bill of Material (BOM)
- Maintains an in-depth working knowledge of computerized manufacturing systems, MRP, BOM structure, Kanban, JIT and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Takes a proactive role in continuous improvement of the MRP System and maintaining data integrity.
- Strictly adhere to the NMG New Product Introduction (NPI) process
Additional Duties:
- Provide support for Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, companywide.
- Other duties, reporting, special assignments, or projects as needed and assigned.
- Must remain current with, and complete all required training as assigned.
- Must adhere to Company Corporate EHS Policy and department, occupation, and task specific safety protocols, including but not limited to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-7 years SCM experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrates thorough understanding and is capable of implementing current Supply Chain Techniques.
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office Tools and MRP systems.
- Highly organized, effective time and project management skills with an ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Must submit to and satisfactorily pass any pre-employment screening required for employment with the Company.
- Must take medical exams required by law, in conjunction with occupation specific activities, the physical work environment, and ongoing industrial hygiene sampling results.
- Depending on assignment, may be required to use stairs, remain upright and/or seated for prolonged timeframes, intermittently reposition the body per various tasks performed, and use various tools and work-related supplies.
- May be required to perform manual lifting activities, not to exceed a 40lb lift performed by one individual.
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- BA/BS in Business, Operations or Supply Chain Management preferred or CPIM.
