Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Retinal Metabolism

Tufts Medical Center
United States, Massachusetts, Boston
800 Washington Street (Show on map)
Oct 02, 2025

Job Summary

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the newly formed lab of Dr. Charandeep Singh (https://sites.tufts.edu/singhlab/) in the Department of Ophthalmology at Tufts Medical Center, Boston, MA. The focus of Singh lab is to understand metabolic basis of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). His lab uses stable isotope-based metabolomics, in vivo mouse models, organoids, protein biochemistry, and multiple mass spectrometry techniques to understand metabolic changes caused by hyperoxic exposure of prematurity born infants that leads to ROP. Lab uses mouse model of oxygen induced retinopathy (OIR) on regular basis. We seek self-motivated candidates with following skills:

-Experience/Interest in AAV based manipulations in vivo, genetic manipulations in culture, lentiviral vector generation, knock-in, knock-outs (prior experience not necessary).

-Experience in mouse in vivo work, preferably retina (subretinal injections, retinal flat mounts etc.)

-Experience in molecular biology techniques (qPCR, western blotting, RNA/DNA extraction)

-Interest in metabolomics and mass spectrometry (prior experience not necessary)

-Interest in in vivo stable isotope labeling (prior experience not necessary)

-Cell culture and organoid cultures (prior experience not necessary)

-Excellent communication skills and team player

The lab is located near vibrant Chinatown area in Boston. Tufts Medical Center has a MBTA T-station on campus, making it easier to commute to work.
