Job Description Summary

The Senior Fuel Procurement Manager is responsible for leading and managing the procure to pay process for fuel (Diesel, Gas, and Propane) across all North American locations This individual will lead initiatives to consolidate fuel purchasing power, improve supplier performance, and ensure cost-effective, reliable fuel supply across a diverse geographic footprint. The role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. This role also be responsible for technology integration, fuel storage, and bill payment to our fueling partners.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic procurement of fuel across 1,400+ rental locations in a decentralized purchasing environment.

  • Utilize technology to digitize the fuel procurement process

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies to consolidate fuel spend while maintaining operational flexibility at the local level.

  • Analyze market trends, fuel pricing indices, and consumption data to identify savings opportunities and mitigate risks.

  • Partner with field operations, finance, tax, sustainability, and vendor partners to align fuel sourcing strategies with business objectives.

  • Negotiate fuel contracts, pricing structures, and service-level agreements with national, regional, and local fuel suppliers.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and KPIs to monitor fuel spend, supplier performance, and compliance.

  • Support sustainability goals by identifying opportunities to incorporate renewable fuels or more efficient fueling strategies.

  • Serve as subject matter expert on fuel procurement best practices and emerging trends.

  • Work closely with legal and compliance to ensure all fuel sourcing activities meet regulatory and internal standards.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the total cost of ownership and eliminate risk.

  • Oversee and metric fuel payables process.

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or related field; MBA or relevant certification preferred.

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in procurement or strategic sourcing, ideally within a multi-site organization and with a strong focus on fuel, energy, or transportation-related commodities.

  • Deep understanding of fuel supplier markets, pricing mechanisms, and spend categories (direct/indirect).

  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.

  • Proficiency with procurement technology platforms and data analysis tools.

  • Excellent communication, project management, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to collaborate and influence across organizational levels.

  • Prior experience in sectors such as equipment rental, construction, or heavy industry preferred.

  • Understanding of safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainability standards.

  • Willingness to travel as required to support supplier relationships and operational needs (up to 20%).

Physical Demands:

Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job. Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work. Base Pay Range: $84,000.00 - 115,500.00
