PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Supplier Development Specialist supports supply chain operations by qualifying, onboarding, and developing suppliers to meet aerospace production and program requirements. This role ensures suppliers are capable, compliant with quality standards, and able to meet cost, delivery, and performance objectives. The Specialist works cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Procurement teams to address supplier issues, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct supplier evaluations and capability assessments, including process reviews, certifications, and compliance with aerospace standards.
  • Support supplier onboarding by reviewing documentation, verifying certifications, and coordinating First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Oversee supplier development projects from initiation to production readiness.
  • Act as the primary liaison between new suppliers and internal stakeholders including Engineering, Quality, and Procurement.
  • Monitor project milestones, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with program objectives.
  • Monitor supplier readiness and ramp-up activities to ensure program schedules are met.
  • Partner with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve supplier technical and process issues.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions for nonconformances or performance gaps.
  • Track and report supplier performance metrics (quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness).
  • Support supplier development projects, including process improvements, quality initiatives, and cost reduction activities.
  • Visit supplier facilities as needed to conduct audits, verify corrective actions, and provide technical support.
  • Collaborate in sourcing decisions by providing input on supplier capability and risk.
  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) activities to ensure suppliers are prepared for production.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field and 2-5 years of supplier development, supply chain, or procurement experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace quality standards (AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP).
  • Proven experience managing supplier projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience in aerospace/defense or a highly regulated industry
  • Experience in the aerospace and defense industry
  • Experience with ERP and supplier management systems.
  • Familiarity with ITAR, DFARS, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with Microsoft products.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times, more with assistance.
  • Work environment consists of various office and manufacturing settings with may have exposure to noise, varying temperatures, smells, and chemicals.
  • Ability to traverse manufacturing facility.
