We're looking for motivated Extrusion Machine Operator with wire and cable experience to join our production team. We have first and 2nd shift openings, you'll operate and maintain extrusion equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, helping us deliver high-quality wire and cable products used in critical applications. The Extrusion Machine Operator is responsible for tending extrusion machines in a continuous production environment for wire and cable products. This role requires following production specifications, performing precise machine setups, verifying quality throughout the process, and adhering to established safety procedures to achieve daily production goals.


Key Responsibilities


  • Read shop orders and manufacturing specifications to determine machine setup, required materials, and production quantities.



  • Verify raw materials against specifications prior to use.



  • Set temperature profiles on extrusion equipment according to material requirements.



  • Select and install tips and dies into the crosshead, ensuring proper concentric alignment.



  • String up the line, adjusting air pressure on dancers to control proper wire tension.



  • Adjust extruder and capstan ratios to achieve dimensional accuracy.



  • Set sparker voltage and configure capstan/take-up gear ratios for efficient operation.



  • Set up and operate inkjet printers as required, inputting and verifying print legends.



  • Test tensile strength and elongation; make necessary adjustments to pre-heat or quench water temperatures.



  • Inspect start-up and subsequent reels for conformance to specifications, making adjustments as needed.



  • Adjust traverse settings on take-up to ensure smooth, consistent packages.



  • Tag conforming and non-conforming material appropriately.



  • Accurately record all completed work on tally sheets and daily machine reports.



  • Maintain compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.



  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Required Skills & Experience


  • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, extrusion preferred.



  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment.



  • Basic math skills and ability to take accurate measurements.



  • Adequate verbal and written communication skills.



  • Ability to operate machinery in compliance with safety standards.



  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
