Orion Lab Integration Engineer - NASA Johnson Space Center Location: NASA Johnson Space Center Status: Full Time Clearance: Background check & U.S. Citizenship required Astrion is seeking an Orion Lab Integration Engineer to join our team supporting the Orion Program within the Avionics Systems Division at NASA's Johnson Space Center. In this role, you will be at the forefront of lab integration, avionics, and system-level testing that ensures the success of the Artemis missions and future exploration beyond Earth orbit. Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
- Typically, 5-10 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience with hardware testing, lab processing, and system integration.
- Knowledge of Linux and scripting languages.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with limited supervision.
- Onsite position (with situational telework flexibility).
- Ability to travel to Artemis test facilities as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of flight hardware and flight processes/paperwork.
- Experience with NASA processes, standards, and lab environments.
What You'll Do
- Lead lab integration activities for the Orion Program, ensuring seamless coordination across avionics, software, and system-level testing.
- Drive integration, verification, and validation activities to support Orion and other mission-critical programs.
- Manage schedules and deliverables with hardware/software dependencies, collaborating with both NASA and external organizations.
- Partner with the prime contractor to define and execute the test and integration strategy for cross-program avionics and software.
- Support re-planning efforts to address evolving challenges such as late deliveries or test anomalies.
- Contribute to the future vision of JSC Labs, ensuring readiness for upcoming Artemis and deep space initiatives.
- Participate in design reviews (requirements, preliminary, and critical) to influence technical direction and mission success.
- Travel periodically (approx. 4 days every 6 weeks) to Denver and other Artemis test facilities.
- Collaborate across organizations, prepare technical documentation, and present findings at reviews and meetings.
