DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Health Care Nurse Surveyor, you will conduct inspections of nursing homes to evaluate the quality of care and services, determine eligibility for licensure, review reported incidents, and recommend correction plans. You will coordinate off-site preparation and on-site inspections of nursing homes, conduct entrance and exit conferences with facility staff, and respond to complaints relative to quality of care and quality of life services provided to residents. This role requires the ability to monitor facilities for noncompliance with state and federal regulations, as well as a genuine desire to advocate for resources, services, and policies that will help vulnerable populations achieve health equity. In addition, you will answer the complaint hotline, record and track information, and assist and coach new surveyors.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Irregular Work Hours: You will be required to carry a cell phone and respond to complaints during off-hours.
  • Travel: Frequent travel within Bradford, Cameron, Centre, Clinton, Lycoming, Northumberland, Mifflin, Potter, Snyder, Sullivan, Tioga, and Union counties; travel to other parts of the Commonwealth; and overnight travel is required.
  • Home Headquartered: This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • All positions require successful completion of the relevant provider-specific federally mandated Surveyor Minimum Qualifications training and Test (SMQT) provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services or an equivalent certifying body for the discipline, within one year of hire.
  • You must have active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Other Requirements:
