Position Summary:
The Emerging Contaminants Research Lab (ECRL) at NJIT seeks a
highly motivated Post-doctoral Researcher to perform research in the treatment
of poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and other emerging contaminants. The
qualified candidates should have previous research experience in physical and
chemical treatment processes. The successful candidate will design and implement
bench and/or pilot scale experiments to evaluate treatment techniques for
removal of emerging contaminants.

Essential Functions:
-Literature review and analysis of existing and emerging technologies for addressing targeted CECs.
-Design and implementation of bench and/or pilot scale experiments.
-Sample collection, preparation, and analysis.
-Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and/or presentation to report on the outcomes of the research.

Additional Functions:
-Assist in supervising graduate and/or undergraduate students.
-Assist in setting up and maintaining a research laboratory.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
-Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in Environmental Engineering,
Chemistry, or a closely related field.
-Strong communication skills and ability to work both
independently and in a collaborative environment are required.
-A record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications and
competent writing skills are considered important.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience
prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the
satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and
experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Research experience in the treatment
of emerging contaminants such as PFAS and 1,4-dioxane.
-Experience in
the development and testing of bench-scale and/or pilot-scale water/wastewater treatment
systems.
-Experience working and troubleshooting
analytical instruments like HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, TOC , FTIR etc.

Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated starting annual salary for this position is $62,232.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
