Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Review the certification package for each customer for release of the shipment. Interpret all purchase orders and quality data requirements. Review all manufacturing sequences of operations to ensure that all operations have been pre-formed in compliance with customer and in-house requirements.

  • Responsible for review and release of all shipments of forgings. Must review each shipment for compliance with processing and quality requirements.
  • Verify that all testing and operations have been completed as approved by the customer. Compile and furnish all related paperwork to release customer shipments. Perform an audit of each shipment for complete conforming quality requirements, including dimensional verification.
  • Complete dimensional over inspection by using standard inspection methods. (Height gage, mics, calipers, part specific ID/OD gages) Interpret customer blueprints and notes to ensure proper measurements are taken. Review and understand coordinate measurement machine (CMM) reports for conformance.
  • Work corrective actions for DSQR issues
  • Detect and report defective parts, improper operation, and unusual conditions to proper supervision. Maintain work area equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Perform a variety of other QA duties such as internal audits, FOD audits, inventory reviews, calibrations.
  • DSQR support (Designated Supplier Quality Representative)
  • Etch out support (Daily physical and administrative transfer of parts to supporting department)
  • Certification support (Review of entire customer packet of information)
  • Material and Shipping support (Physical and Administrative functions of shipping. Including Export Compliance Items)
  • Inventory support (Finished Goods/WIP/MRB)
  • Help Maintain the Gage Trak Calibration System
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager

Working conditions

  • Constant exposure to indoor & outdoor manufacturing environment.
  • Constant exposure to moderate noise.
  • Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, and hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required. Two-year technical associate degree is preferred. One to two years of experience as a quality inspector preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Requires working knowledge of shop mathematics.
  • Working knowledge of blueprints, complex drawings, and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, such as Excel.
  • Working knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
  • Working knowledge of inspection methods and techniques, manufacturing methods and requirements.
  • Professional communication and demeanor as this position is the face of Wyman Gordon with customer.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills as this position will communicate directly to customers.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Must successfully complete the SAE AS13001 DPRV training class to include written and practical exam.
  • Must successfully complete and pass OEM DPRV Certification Program
  • Must be able to operate mobile equipment such as stand up or sit down fork truck
  • Additional responsibilities as defined and assigned by supervisor or manager.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat climb, kneel, twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis for twelve hours a day.
  • Ability to stand and walk on concrete surfaces for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
  • Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping, power grasping, pushing, and pulling of materials and fine manipulation.
  • Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, and hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to work any shift including first, second, third, twelve-hour days and twelve-hour nights. Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as scheduled.
  • You must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to meet or exceed the following visual acuity requirements:
