Job Summary

The Project Manager I manages small projects or phases of larger projects under the guidance of a supervisor or a more senior project manager. This position ensures all aspects of project planning, execution, and delivery are completed on time, within scope, and within budget while following organizational standards and methodologies.

This position is based in Leawood, Kansas, with remote eligibility.

What you will be doing:

  • Collaborate with a supervisor or senior project manager to establish high-level workload plans and develop detailed day-to-day project plans.
  • Document project details to ensure stakeholders understand project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Ensure project plans align with program roadmaps and are understood and executed by team members, business peers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support application implementation and compliance by assisting in the estimation, analysis, design, programming, testing, and quality assurance of assigned projects.
  • Review project artifacts to ensure adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and standards at each stage of the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in managing project budgets by establishing budget needs, setting guidelines for fees and resource usage, monitoring expenditures, and reporting deviations.
  • Identify risks and facilitate mitigation strategies, providing updates to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Prepare for and conduct project reviews and stage gate meetings according to organizational processes.
  • Mentor team members as needed and provide guidance to resolve project challenges.
  • Continuously learn about emerging technologies, trends, and best practices relevant to project management and the industry.

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent business and technical experience.
  • Solid understanding of basic project management principles and governance, with experience applying methodologies to software development projects (waterfall, iterative, or equivalent).
  • Ability to develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and roadmaps, and communicate these effectively to executives, peers, and team members.
  • Ability to manage project work plans using Microsoft Project or similar tools and keep project status up to date in portfolio management systems.
  • Ability to drive projects to completion on time and within budget.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to challenge assumptions, evaluate deliverables, and enforce project standards.
  • Effective risk identification, communication, and mitigation skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development in project management and related technologies.

What we also value (preferred):

  • 2+ years of professional experience in project management or equivalent roles.
  • Experience managing software solution projects with budgets of at least $100,000.
  • Ability to present and explain complex technical topics clearly to diverse audiences.

Minimum qualifications:

Compensation

AMC provides a compensation range for open positions where required. Factors that may be used to determine actual compensation may include, but are not limited to, a specific skill set, relevant experience or geographic location. The compensation range for this position may be lower or higher in different markets based on business needs.

The compensation for this position is: $58000 - $63000
