We are seeking a Distribution DevOps Engineer to join our team and assist in developing monitoring frameworks, as well as ingesting and processing video content, to support the distribution of all networks wholly or partially owned by Tubi Media Group.

The ideal candidate is someone who excels at collaborating and building relationships with diverse FOX teams, clients, and vendors. Leveraging your expertise in end-to-end development and video streaming infrastructures, you will have the opportunity to design direct-to-consumer (DTC) monitoring frameworks, support functions such as problem identification and resolution, develop technical solutions, and establish effective policies, procedures, and processes.

A SNAPSHOT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create processes and tasks to integrate DTC devices that gather video, audio, and metadata from DTC platforms. Additionally, build automated processes to test the User interface (UI) and user experience (UX) on various DTC platforms to ensure optimal performance and functionality.

  • Utilize Witbe infrastructure to build out scenarios and campaigns that provide robust and reliable testing and monitoring solutions. Knowledge of Witbe products, including WitBox, Witbox Net, Witbe Workbench, and Smartgate reports, for comprehensive analysis.

  • Professional knowledge of Linux operating systems, such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux Public & Private cloud (AWS, VRA), Web Technology (Apache, Tomcat, WebLogic)

  • Advanced knowledge of cloud technology such as AWS or GCP

  • Responding to and remediating unplanned outages to minimize disruptions to customers and business impact.

  • Ensure consistent and reliable product and service performance by implementing process controls and defining measurable reliability standards for both existing and new Linux systems, software, and web services.

  • Responsible for tracking, identifying, reporting, and correcting the root cause of system failures.

  • Supporting technologies, systems, and software as required.

  • Identify and resolve system issues reported by external users, internal team members, or detected through monitoring systems. Lead collaborative problem-solving efforts, often involving coordination with outside vendors and external technical teams.

  • Installing, managing, and deploying containers using Kubernetes, both on-prem and in AWS

  • Installing, managing, and deploying using a configuration tool like Ansible to manage various environments.

  • Strong Python programming and scripting skills.

  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipeline technologies and the usage of GitHub.

  • Provide support outside regular hours as needed. Operate and participate in the on-call escalation chain as well as off-hour maintenance.

  • Analyzing functional and technical requirements, mapping documents, and transforming them into a comprehensive test plan

  • Information security awareness to meet or exceed FOX's InfoSec policies.

  • Define and deploy monitoring, metrics, and logging systems on-premises and in AWS.

  • Collaborate with developers and engineers to integrate an end-to-end design that's well documented.

  • Recommend alternative design and platform options.

  • Monitor communications channels, monitoring tools, and related systems to ensure awareness of system stability, health, and performance.

  • Participate in Distribution Engineering projects focused on developing and maintaining in-house applications that showcase curated data and video streams, such as UMD, mosaic.fox, and API-Collector.

  • Develop highly repeatable processes and have a desire to automate.

  • Create visualizations to display trending data to operations and engineering teams. Use of open source data and visualization tools such as InfluxDB and Grafana

  • Maintain and grow current monitoring incentives of current distribution systems, including Techex, Media Kind compression, encryption, and decoding systems.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • MS degree in Computer Sciences, or an Engineering-related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

  • 1-3 years of experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, CircleCI, Bamboo) and code/binary repositories (Bitbucket, Git, Artifactory, Nexus) as part of the CI/CD pipeline

  • 1-3 years of experience with MongoDB and similar database technologies

  • 1-3 years of demonstrated experience with Python, Groovy, Ruby, and Bash

  • 1-3 years of experience with automation/configuration management using either Ansible or an equivalent

  • Strong knowledge in open source technologies (MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, etc.)

  • Ability to create automated tests that easily plug into our automated code pipeline

  • Ability to provide deep and detailed levels of monitoring across all levels of the application broadcast and streaming distribution

  • Demonstrated interest and awareness of current and future infrastructure trends, broadcast, distribution, and streaming

  • Must be a continuous learner, critical thinker, and excellent communicator.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service

  • This role supports a 24/7 environment which requires a flexible schedule, including weekend, holiday and overnight availability. Days off may/may not be consecutive.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $74,000.00-106,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
