The HR Generalist for the Department of Cognitive Science provides comprehensive personnel, payroll, and administrative support for career and limited/casual staff, postdoctoral scholars, Graduate students, visiting scholars, and temporary lecturers, while also supporting the AP Analyst on academic personnel matters. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the HR Generalist independently manages complex payroll, recruitment, hiring, personnel administration, visas, leaves, disability, and benefits. They oversee staff classification, analyze salary equity, and ensure timely dissemination of relevant HR information. The HR Generalist advises supervisors and managers on HR issues of moderate scope and complexity, interprets and implements changes in University policies, and recommends workflow and procedural improvements to support departmental and campus goals. They also guide academic HR matters, including academic and staff recruitments, academic reviews, affirmative action, performance appraisals, reclassifications, benefits administration, payroll, timekeeping, leaves, employee relations, and visa procurement. Under the general supervision of the CAO, the HR Generalist provides policy guidance, strategic planning support, and administrative advice to the Chair, faculty, CAO, and staff. They collaborate regularly with campus AP and HR managers, as well as the SoSS Dean's Office, on academic appointments and departmental planning, representing Cognitive Science in administrative and HR matters while maintaining strict confidentiality. ~ Cover letter required for a complete application. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $65,800 - $115,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $31.51 - $55.08 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
