Job Description

As a Transportation Claims Specialist, reporting to the Transportation Manager - Americas, you will manage freight claims across complex international and domestic transportation flows - spanning plants, distribution centers, vendors, and customers. Your expertise will drive resolution of damages, shortages, and delivery errors, ensuring optimized recovery outcomes, process compliance, and cross-functional collaboration.

You'll be the subject-matter expert for all claim types - leveraging MyEZClaim software, SAP Quality Notes, and deep knowledge of legal frameworks. This is more than operations: it's influencing change, leading process design, and supporting the rollout of a global claims strategy.

This is a hybrid role that can be based out of our Whitestown, IN, Mayfield Heights, OH, or Milwaukee, WI locations.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Investigate, process, and resolve freight claims related to damage, shortage, loss, or delayed delivery across multiple transport lanes:
    • Plants Customers
    • Vendors Plants / Distribution Centers
    • Plants Plants / DCs
    • DCs DCs / DCs Customers
  • Analyze contracts (e.g., Incoterms, vendor agreements) to assess liability and ensure accurate settlement.
  • Negotiate claim values and lead collection efforts within authorized limits; escalate high-impact cases as needed.
  • Collaborate with carriers, freight forwarders, insurance providers, engineers, and legal teams for swift and compliant resolutions.
  • Maintain detailed documentation using MyEZClaim, SAP Quality Notes transactions, and internal claims management tools.
  • Develop and implement a global freight claims process, including project planning, change management, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Drive continuous improvement with fulfillment sites and transportation partners to reduce future claims.
  • Monitor claim trends, recovery rates, and financial impact through reporting and analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with global regulations such as the Carmack Amendment, Montreal Convention, and FMCSA guidelines.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in freight claims management, including LTL, FTL, and parcel shipments across multiple countries.
  • Proficiency in claims platforms including MyEZClaim, SAP (Quality Notes), CargoWise, or similar.
  • Legal and regulatory knowledge (e.g., carrier liability, cargo insurance, Incoterms).
  • Expertise in Carmack Amendment compliance, including claims handling, liability assessment, and dispute resolution for cargo loss or damage in interstate commerce.
  • Proven experience managing multi-modal transport claims across international and domestic markets.
  • Project management experience to support global process rollout.
  • Background in electronics or automation component logistics.
  • Network of carrier and freight forwarder relationships.
  • Claims/logistics certifications: AIC, CCLP, CTB, PMP, or Six Sigma.
  • Experience with customs documentation and legal dispute resolution.
