Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Under general supervision, the Coordinator II, Student Life Registered Student Organizations (RSO) provides oversight and facilitation of day-to-day operations within Student Services and to serve as the lead staff member for the Office of Student Life. All staff in the department report to this position, and this role is accountable for all activities within the department including but not limited to budget (Student Activity Fund), clubs and organizations, campus wide events, leadership development, team building, co-curricular opportunities for students, recreational sports, partnerships with other departments and agencies, and community involvement. This position reports to the Director for Student Services and sits on the Kingwood Student Services leadership team with the VPSS, Dean of Students, and all other department managers/directors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Oversees daily and some long-term operations in the department; Serves as Subject Matter Expert in Student Life, for student non-academic travel and for the student activity fee
  2. Monitors departmental and RSO budget expenditures and controls resources such as office supplies and equipment needed within the department; Submits requisitions and follows up with reconciliation documentation
  3. Assists with evaluations of programs and makes recommendations for revisions to processes and procedures with a focus on continuous departmental processes improvement; Assist with development of new programs
  4. Supports the Student Organization Specialist in his/her role and reports student organization activity to leadership and administration as needed
  5. Supports the Recreational Sports assigned faculty in their role; Ensures that students from every demographic have the opportunity to compete in these programs; Oversees the marketing, recruiting and assessment of these programs
  6. Supports the Chair of the Student Fee Advisory Committee; Monitors and oversees student activity fee budget and all expenses that fall under this budget including but not limited to department resources such as supplies and equipment, payroll for department personnel, non-academic student travel, contracts for student programming, and student organization expenses.
  7. Regularly assesses and analyzes student needs, interests, and events for developing programs, policies, goals, objectives, and plans for reports and evaluations of Registered Student Organizations
  8. Works collaboratively with College Relations in coordinating and evaluating methods of marketing student programs, events, and activities; Works collaboratively with Advising, Admissions and Outreach departments to support enrollment initiatives; Works collaboratively with the Intercultural, Men's and Women's centers in coordinating and evaluating student engagement and learning opportunities
  9. Collaborates with non-profit organizations and local community boards to represent the college and/or students that are involved in Registered Student Organizations (i.e., United Way, American Heart Association)
  10. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail
  • Excellent knowledge of general office and software applications
  • Ability to prepare and analyze reports
  • Possesses good organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize duties
  • Basic graphic design experience preferred
  • High level of customer service with staff and students

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree or higher and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree
Salary

Hiring salary range is $44,793 - $51,512

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
