Mechanic

Must be capable of cutting and joining metals and other materials at our facilities or project sites, as well as assembling, maintaining, and repairing equipment and vehicles. Operate appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision and ensure functionality and reliability of machines, engines, and mechanical systems throughout the company fleet of equipment. Works closely with their manager and has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements

  • Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues

  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner

  • Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems

  • Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components

  • Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery

  • Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users

  • Keep logs of work and report on issues

  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements

  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)

  • Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps

  • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws

  • Assess equipment, structures, materials, and job specifications for appropriate welding positions and methods

  • Monitors equipment for appropriate usage and temperature

  • Monitors work environment for hazards and maintains healthy ventilation levels to avoid particle or gas inhalation

Candidate Qualifications/ Requirements

  • Certificate from Tech school or equivalent work experience

  • 3+ years of related-industry experience, preferred

  • Competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions

  • Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties

  • Knowledge of various types of heavy equipment (front loaders, grinders, grapple, ect...)

  • Proficient in modern welding techniques and equipment

  • Must have attention to detail

  • Basic computer skills

  • Working knowledge of wire and filler material applications for various steel fabrication

  • Must be able to work in a group or independently

  • Ability to fill out logs on all equipment worked on

  • Knowledge on OSHA regulations pertaining to this position

  • Must have a safety-first mindset

Preferred:

  • Able to read and interpret drawings and specifications

  • Extensive safety training
