Facilitates youth recreational activities by supervising, participating, or teaching. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Assists in facility evaluation for all recreational facilities.
  • Supervises and assists in the monitoring of all home games.
  • Communicates regularly with internal staff to coordinate the use of the recreational facilities and to review the effectiveness of the programs.
  • Coordinates with the custodial staff for the purpose of maintaining the recreational facilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of recreation and physical education activities and corresponding practices and safety standards.
  • High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to successfully lead a team of associates.
  • Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 19 years of age required.
  • CPR - First Aid - AED Certified required.
  • State of NE Pool Operator's License (or equivalent national license) within 30 days of transfer or hire required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education, or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience including recreation or physical education preferred.
  • Lifeguard Certification preferred.
  • Ropes Course Certification preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Other Duties: This job description incorporates the essential functions and duties required for this position. However, other duties may be required and assigned at times and as determined by a supervisor in order to meet the needs of the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Must have and maintain sufficient mental acuity and physical strength, agility, and endurance to perform all job requirements (including stressful situations - physically, mentally, and emotionally) encountered on the job without compromising the health and well-being of self, fellow employees, and youth or families. Must have sufficient vision, hearing, speech and the mobility to monitor youth, actively participate in safety procedures, and participate in physical activities with youth. Push and pull at least 80 pounds of force, lift up to 50 pounds, carry safely up to 40 pounds, as well as the ability to reach overhead, bend, and squat with ease.Work is typically in a normal educational school administrative, gymnasium, pool (including chemicals), or outdoor environment but may be performed in a variety of environments ranging from highly stressful and potentially aggressive (physical interventions, escorts, etc.) to casual and leisurely, in both indoor and outdoor settings and may be subject to outside weather conditions occasionally. Includes constant interruptions, inappropriate behaviors, and the potential for verbal and physical threats from youth.
