Job Summary:
This position works independently, under general supervision, providing comprehensive support to the Station Superintendent and ARS Financial Manager and supplemental support to professors, researchers, and staff from the UW CALS departments to facilitate research and facility use at the West Madison Agricultural Research Station (WMARS) and the campus animal units. The WMARS manages over 600 acres and supports more than 35 PI with nearly 100 projects; it hosts several field days and numerous tours of the Demonstration and Research Display Gardens. The station also has a conference room that is rented out for retreats, seminars, and classroom studies to university departments and a number of other agricultural industry groups as well as several on-site facilities being used by hundreds of students/staff annually. Campus animal units house a variety of species to meet critical hands on teaching and research missions. The campus units include the Dairy Cattle Center, Livestock Lab, Greenhouse Operations, and Poultry Research Lab. This position oversees and manages all aspects of office activities to ensure that functions of budgeting, financial reporting, and invoicing are done in an accurate and efficient manner. Furthermore, this position includes administrative duties and provides support to staff regarding payroll and human resource policies. Key Job Responsibilities:
Assist with soliciting agricultural supplies & equipment bids by connecting with vendors and transferring information into final summary format Assist ARS Financial Manager in training other ARS staff on financial processes/workday duties Work closely with ARS Financial Manager to develop practical financial processes for all stations within established UW policies
West Madison Headquarters Compensation:The anticipated salary range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00. However, final salary will depend on experience and qualifications.
