Security is responsible for providing the physical protection of Baptist Health assets, including people, property, reputation, and information.

Receiving general direction from the Security Director, Coordinator, or designee, enforces Hospital regulations, provides a safe and secure environment for hospital patients, visitors and employees. The Security Officer will enforce hospital policies and security regulations through active monitoring and patrolling of Baptist property by continuously watching and reporting of potential safety hazards and unusual occurrences. As determined by supervisory personnel, the Security officer investigates complaints or potential criminal conduct; assists in restraining patients as necessary; provides protective services.

Job Description:

Security Officer-PRN

  • Assist care team with managing patient/visitor behaviors.

  • Correct conditions that may create security or safety problems.

  • Respond immediately to calls for assistance; request backup when needed.

  • Provide escorts for staff and flight crews; perform helipad duties.

  • Open and secure doors/buildings as scheduled.

  • Maintain professional conduct and radio communication at all times.

  • Complete duty logs and follow all directives and policies.

  • Conduct scheduled patrols, area checks, and vehicle/parking enforcement.

  • Enter required data into the hospital system.

  • Correct safety/security deficiencies and respond to emergencies per policy.

  • Assist employees, visitors, and patients during crises.

  • Perform other assigned duties.

  • Search for missing property and follow all leads.

  • Document all information clearly and accurately.

  • Pass information to relieving officers.

  • Report offenses to the appropriate authority.

  • Learn and operate all security systems.

  • Keep monitoring area free of visitors and personal materials.

  • Monitor all floors using CCTV.

  • Keep cameras on assigned sequences unless observing an incident.

  • Remain in office unless performing an approved task.

  • Follow dress code and use required safety equipment.

  • Attend required safety and job-related training.

  • Follow safety and infection control policies.

  • Participate in fire and emergency preparedness drills as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Basic Life Support is required. New employees requiring CPR-Basic Life Support (BLS)-American Heart Association should receive (CPR) training within the first week of orientation

  • Aegis Training
