Job Summary

The Electronic Assembly Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of electronic and mechanical assembly operations on components, subassemblies, and finished products. This role involves assembling, inspecting, testing, and reworking complex electronic systems, including fine-pitch and microelectronic components. The technician will interpret engineering drawings and specifications, ensure compliance with quality standards, and collaborate with engineering and quality teams to support continuous improvement. This position is located in Oldsmar, FL.

Job Responsibilities




  • Perform electronic and mechanical assembly of modules, boards, panels, frames, and cables according to engineering drawings and work instructions.



  • Assemble, solder, and inspect advanced electronic components including fine-pitch, 0201, BGAs, and microelectronics under magnification.



  • Conduct continuity checks and functional tests on work in process and completed assemblies.



  • Inspect solder joints and assemblies for compliance with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.



  • Set up, calibrate, and maintain soldering and rework stations; recommend tools and equipment improvements as needed.



  • Interpret and follow detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly documentation.



  • Disassemble, modify, rework, and reassemble prototype assemblies as required.



  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Engineering to identify and resolve production issues.



  • Maintain accurate production, inspection, and quality documentation.



  • Adhere to all ESD, safety, and cleanroom protocols to maintain compliance and ensure product reliability.



  • Take ownership of assigned tasks to ensure quality workmanship and on-time completion.




Job Requirements




  • Experience in electronic assembly, soldering, and inspection within a manufacturing environment.



  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics.



  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, jigs, and precision instruments.



  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.



  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented production environment.



  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards required.



  • ESD, Class 0, and cleanroom compliance knowledge preferred.




Education




  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in electronics preferred.




Certifications and Training




  • ESD & Class 0 Certification.



  • IPC-A-610 & J-STD-001 certification or training required.



  • Component Identification and Layout Training.



  • Moisture Sensitive Devices and Component/PWB Handling.



  • Operator Self-Inspection and Safe Product Movement training.



  • "Right-To-Know" and Safety Training.




Work Experience




  • Prior experience assembling and testing electronic components or systems in a production environment.



  • Experience with rework, inspection, and prototype assembly preferred.
