What to Expect

The Production Control Process Engineering team is looking for highly motivated, goal-oriented Process Engineer to streamline and optimize material flow processes (physical and systematic) to increase overall safety, quality and efficiency. They will also design and execute material flow for new product launches.

The team is responsible for supporting all physical engineering needs of the Production Control team, including but not limited to designing mechanisms for all material flow aspects from receiving, warehousing, order fulfillment through sequencing and kitting strategies, with solutions to safety and ergonomic hazards.

Successful members of the team will be highly proactive and self-sufficient in pursuing improvement projects, be able to multitask and refocus efforts immediately to meet constantly shifting demands in a fast-paced environment and have exceptional organizational skills to coordinate changes with all affected teams.

This role is open for both Gigafactory Nevada and Fremont.


What You'll Do
  • Design and optimize material flow conveyance routes, facility layouts by applying first principle thinking and logic of PFEP development, layout definition, flow definition, headcount definition, PIV definition, Replenishment system definition and Standard Work Instructions development
  • Collaborate with stakeholder teams such as NPI, Manufacturing, Packaging, Quality, Ergonomics & Safety, Logistics, etc. to prioritize and maximize operational efficiency of Production Control Operations team
  • Apply lean manufacturing tools including 5S, 5T, waste/loss identification, value stream mapping, work measurement, and problem-solving methodologies to optimize manufacturing and material flow efficiency thereby reducing operational costs
  • Develop business cases for material flow improvement initiatives, including touch reduction in material handling and automation (AGVs, AMRs, etc.) integration, with an emphasis on optimizing workforce planning and management to enhance productivity and reduce labor costs
  • Develop and implement material flow strategies (incl. but not limited to kitting, sequencing, etc.) for lineside part presentation, conveyance, warehousing, etc. to support high volume, high complexity manufacturing
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets and performance metrics for automation initiatives, ensuring seamless integration with existing processes and minimal disruption to production

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in material flow, Process Engineering, or Industrial Engineering within high volume electronic manufacturing industry
  • Preferred hands-on experience leading automation projects, specifically with technologies like AMRs, AGVs, or similar robotic systems for material handling
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and simulation software (FlexSim, etc.)
  • Advanced skills in Excel, SQL, or other analytical tools for data mining and analysis
  • Strong written, verbal communication & project management skills
