Job Summary
     
     
 The ASAP Counselor provides counseling services, crisis intervention, consultation, group programming, and resource identification and referral for UC Davis employees. In addition, this position will provide consultation for managers, supervisors, and administrators on employee well-being and/or mental health concerns. Responsibilities also include psycho-educational/informational programming on various topics, including stress management, wellness, resilience, mindfulness, balancing work and life, team building, and effective communication. The ASAP Counselor is expected to coordinate and collaborate with all appropriate University and community resources, with an emphasis on problem prevention and/or early resolution. The individual in this position will serve as a mental health expert/consultant on various UCD campus committees. The ASAP counselor will devote 50% of their time to support Vet-med employees, 10% of their time to support the Work-Strong program and serve as back-up for general ASAP clients based on organizational needs.          Must have current licensure in behavioral health counseling discipline from California or other state or be license-eligible in California (if other state or license eligible, must acquire California license within six months). Successful completion of a master's degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, social work, or a related field. Professional clinical training is essential.Experience counseling adults with adjustment issues, performance problems, substance abuse, stress, and/or other social/mental health/physical/workplace issues.Ability to work with diverse populations of faculty, staff, retirees, and their adult family members.Skills in conducting clinical and needs assessment to identify significant environmental, interpersonal, personal, and departmental stressors. Skills to articulate a treatment/intervention plan that will lead to problem resolution, stress reduction, increased productivity, and improved well-being.Knowledge and capacity to use the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V-TR) to establish accurate diagnostic impressions, formulate treatment plans, and make appropriate referrals.Knowledge of ethical, legal, and University standards and regulations. Knowledge of mandated reporting responsibilities/requirements (i.e., child and/or elder abuse reporting). Preferred Qualifications 
         Experience working in an Employee Assistance or related programs. Experience working with healthcare professionals, especially providers of veterinary medicine. Ability to establish professional work relationships with campus personnel and community professionals including, but not limited to, supervisors, HR representatives, managers, faculty, administrators, police, veterinarians, physicians, and mental health professionals.Knowledge of basic research protocols and basic statistics.Excellent oral and written communication skills; public speaking skills.
