We are seeking a highly experienced and passionate Digital Accessibility Consultant to lead and drive enterprise-wide accessibility initiatives for internal technologies and content. Leveraging a minimum of 10 years of experience in digital accessibility, this role will partner with the Director of Accessibility to establish processes, develop self-service tools, create and deliver training, and provide general accessibility consulting-ensuring internal systems, tools, and communications are truly inclusive. You will be instrumental in implementing best practices and fostering a deep understanding of accessibility across all internal functions and product teams.
*Key Responsibilities* Strategic Contribution & Program Implementation for Internal Systems * Drive the implementation of accessibility initiatives across internal technology platforms (e.g., Learning Management Systems, HR systems, hiring and onboarding systems, collaboration tools, internal communication platforms, support portals). * Support accessibility leadership in defining and prioritizing requirements to mature the accessibility program model for internal-facing products and content. * Develop and implement comprehensive third-party vendor accessibility programs for internal tools and services, including policies, streamlined processes, vendor engagement procedures, tracking mechanisms, and contract language recommendations. * Integrate accessibility into procurement and supply chain management processes for internal software, hardware, and services. * Champion organization-wide initiatives to elevate awareness and adoption of accessible internal communications (e.g., emails, newsletters, intranet content, PowerPoints, documents) and inclusive meeting practices. * Act as a key accessibility advisor, consulting on the development of new internal business-focused solutions and tools designed for or impacting employees with disabilities. Technical Expertise & Implementation for Internal Products * Serve as a subject matter expert, advising internal teams on digital accessibility best practices for products and tools, focusing on WCAG 2.x guidelines (2.0, 2.1, and future versions). * Integrate accessibility into complex internal communication platforms, collaboration tools, and AI tools, down to individual Microsoft Office documents, emails, and training modules. * Conduct accessibility audits tailored to audience technical knowledge and provide technical solutions and remediation to cross-functional internal teams. * Apply and consult on accessibility and usability principles in the ideation, discovery, and design phases for internal tools. * Educate and support teams with integrating user research and user testing with people with disabilities. Training, Mentorship & Disability Inclusion Advocacy * Cultivate a network of internal champions and advocates for accessible solutions. * Host regular office hours and open forums to provide ongoing support, answer technical and strategic questions, and foster a community of practice for accessibility champions. * Design, develop, and deliver accessibility-focused training and self-service aids and resources to empower employees to understand, advocate for, and implement accessible content creation (e.g., documents, presentations, videos). * Provide expert consultation and guidance on best practices for facilitating inclusive meetings, virtual events, and in-person gatherings. *Skills* * Accessibility * Design * Project Management * Quality Assurance * Section 508 *Top Skills Details* * Accessibility * Design * Project Management * Quality Assurance * Section 508 *Additional Skills & Qualifications* *Experience:* * Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Digital Accessibility, with a strong focus on enterprise-level internal systems and content. * Extensive experience establishing and managing third-party vendor accessibility evaluation and consulting practices for internal tools and services. * Proven experience integrating accessibility into procurement and supply chain management processes for internal technology. * Strong experience with Agile methodologies (JIRA and Confluence a plus). * Demonstrated Product Delivery Life Cycle skills, especially for internal enterprise applications. * Experience integrating accessibility into complex internal technology platforms including collaboration tools, learning platforms, etc. *Technical Skills:* * Expert-level proficiency with screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver) across various operating systems (Windows OS, iOS, Mac OS, TalkBack). * Tactical knowledge of WAI-ARIA and W3C standards-compliant HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. * Understanding of how other disability profiles expect and need to use assistive technology (e.g., screen readers, screen magnification, alternative keyboard inputs, high contrast). * Proficient in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Jira, and Confluence. * Familiarity with automated accessibility tools (e.g., axe). *Compliance & Standards Knowledge:* * Solid understanding of WCAG 2.x (including 2.0, 2.1, and beyond) for Mobile Apps, Web, and web-based applications, specifically as applied to internal enterprise systems. * Proficiency with Section 508 and EAA (European Accessibility Act) requirements for internal technology. *Soft Skills & Leadership:* * Superior communication and influencing skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to deliver engaging and impactful presentations to diverse internal audiences. * A self-starter who exhibits initiative, drive, and dependability, capable of working with limited supervision and as part of a high-performing team. *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
