OverviewMicrosoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team is responsible for the full lifecycle of Microsoft's cloud infrastructure, spanning site selection, development, and operations. Our global footprint includes more than 400 datacenters in 34 countries, supported by over 165,000 miles of fiber optic cable. These facilities form the backbone of Microsoft Azure and are central to our commitment to reliable, secure, and sustainable digital infrastructure. As part of the CO+I Energy Team, you will join a team of professionals responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and delivering strategic energy projects. The candidate will manage a portfolio of activities to identify and execute on energy supply opportunities, infrastructure development plans, and interconnection strategies to support Microsoft's continued datacenter growth. As a Senior Energy Project Manager you will build and lead relationships with utilities and other external stakeholders to originate and perform diligence on growth opportunities. In addition, the Senior Energy Project Managers will communicate with cross-functional teams and leadership to influence strategic decision making. Senior Energy Project Managers will need to understand the dynamics of energy markets, delivery systems, regulatory and policy environments, and Microsoft's own unique position in the energy sector to deliver creative solutions. This necessitates that the candidate brings an innovative, collaborative presence to the role while also driving commercial project execution to realize business goals and meet sustainability targets. ResponsibilitiesIdentify, evaluate and negotiate datacenter energy supply and interconnection solutions with utilities and third-party energy suppliers in support of Microsoft's datacenter growth.Develop relationships with external suppliers and partners, including electric utilities, economic development groups, regulatory agencies, and technology providers, to deliver solutions for energy supply and infrastructure.Develop frameworks and analyze data to improve accuracy and speed of decision making.Advise cross-functional teams and leadership on risks, priorities, and recommendations.Engage stakeholders with competing objectives to influence project outcomes.Business travel required (10%-25%, subject to fluctuation with business tempo). | |
