What You Will Do
Trimble is the market leader in high-performance embedded GPS navigation receivers for aviation applications. The Trimble receivers are deeply embedded in inertial navigation subsystems. The Hardware Development Engineer manages circuit card and programmable logic life cycle Development, implementation, test, and verification activities for high-performance aviation GPS receivers, comprising digital, RF, power, and mechanical subsystems of circuit card-level receivers.

You will support products from initial development to end of life, including conceptualization, proposals, development validation, new product introduction, engineering changes, sustaining engineering, manufacturing problem resolution, and quality issues.

This will involve:

  • Development, implementation, and testing of digital, analog, and RF circuit card assemblies, programmable logic devices, and test fixtures, meeting rigorous functional, performance, and reliability requirements

  • Manage requirements, development specification documentation, interface control documents, schematic capture, layout, board bringup and test, and associated activities

  • Specify parts, analyze performance and reliability, and manage the assembly lifecycle

  • Driving activities for configuration control, production transition, and support, including Agile database parts and BOM management.

  • Sustaining activities for legacy developments and products, including root cause analysis and corrective action

  • Working with the certification, CM, and QA leads, to ensure that the deliverable system meets the Development assurance, certification, and quality standards.

What skills & experience you should bring
As well as being a collaborative, team-oriented contributor with demonstrated ability to think outside the box and enable teams to achieve goals and deliver results efficiently, you should be able to bring the following:

  • BS in EE from an accredited institution

  • 7+ years' experience with mixed signal board-level circuit Development and implementation, including RF, high-speed analog to digital conversion, and with FPGA (Verilog and/or VHDL) Development, simulation, and implementation

  • Expertise with embedded system bringup and BSP support, including CISC and RISC CPU-based systems and microcontroller-based subsystems

  • Experience in the following areas:

    • Complex power supply control architectures

    • Microcontroller programming

    • High-speed memory and peripheral systems (200MHz)

    • SERDES or equivalent high-speed interconnects

    • Familiarity with RF Development and performance issues, such as isolation, crosstalk, and interference

  • Track record demonstrating rigorous documentation, record keeping, organization, collaboration, and communication skills

  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance is required. Applicants must clearly indicate citizenship and any previous DoD security clearance activity.

Trimble Military and Advanced Systems (TMAS) is a group within Trimble that specializes in advanced positioning, navigation, and timing technologies, primarily serving federal defense agencies. TMAS provides sophisticated Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers, modules, and related technical solutions, with a primary focus on military and national security applications.

This compensation range is based on a full time schedule.
