Primary Responsibilities

As a Solid Waste Intern at HDR, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our team of experienced professionals in the waste industry. This role is ideal for engineering students or recent graduates seeking hands-on experience in an innovative and dynamic work environment. Your work in this role will primarily be focused on traditional Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) or Coal Combustion Residual (CCR) projects. You will contribute to projects that drive positive change in the waste sector while gaining valuable insight into engineering practices within the waste industry.

  1. Field Sampling: Working in the field at our client facilities to collect groundwater, soil, or gas samples.
  2. Data Analysis: Assist in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to waste management operations, such as waste generation, collection, and recycling rates.
  3. Construction Quality Assurance: Assist in overseeing the construction of waste systems such as landfill/impoundment liner systems, cover systems, or the clean out of waste facilities.
  4. Client Support: Work closely with clients to understand their unique waste management challenges, offering technical solutions and recommendations to address their specific needs.
  5. Report Generation: Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and project progress to clients and internal stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to perform field assignments and ability to drive to locations within Colorado.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/360 tools (i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, Project, etc.)
  • A good working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, construction documents and technical knowledge.
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Attention to detail
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
